I was involved in firearms before this one was available.

Also understand there are many choices to be made, the 5.7 is not the worst, nor the best. It is a choice.
I have one and enjoy it.

Not crazy at all if you wouldn't mind the price.

The Five-seveN is a very nice pistol with a lot of technology/philosophy/design behind it, same as the 5.7x28mm rounds.

The practice rounds (e.g. SS197SR) are not that expensive, around $200-ish for 500 rounds. As for self-defense rounds, one can always look into Elite Ammunition, it has some very nice offers.

Not crazy at all, a very fun firearm to own. As has been stated above the ammo is a bit pricey but beyond that nothing else to complain about.

I wouldn't say it's a bad purchase. I do think the platform is a bit hampered by the CA magazine capacity. With only 10 rounds the selling point for me is lost. With the 20 or 30 round magazines the 5.7 is a better defensive option.

The ammo prices are similar to 45 acp. If it seems expensive a 9mm might be a better option.

1. I'm not at legal age yet
2. It's pretty expensive
3. It's a lot of money
4. I am broke
5. It costs around 10 Benjamins

in a month a friend is buying my AR, and i was going to get a AK-74 but the five seven is calling me. should i get it? the ammo can only be found on the net, its not cheap to feed and it is really fugly but for some reason i want one.

Yeah, you're crazy. Maybe if you lived in a state where you could take advantage of the magazine capacity, it would be worthwhile.

Or maybe you're not. It's your money, and people buy things far more ridiculous and useless than handguns all the time. If it'll make you happy, then buy it.

Yea, kind of like an AK. To me, an AK is an AK when it has the fun switch on it. But i'm glad to be able to at least have one in Semi. Even with it being neutered, better than nothing!

I sold mine a year ago and don't miss it at all. The FNH5-7 was built around the SS190 black tip cartridge. The armor penetrating cartridge is not available to civilians. Because of this, I'll pass.

Buy yourself a nice 1911 instead.

Criminals have been wearing body armor for years. It is therefore reasonable that their potential victims have the means to defeat it.
