Sigma, they're like the whipping boy of the handgun community. They should be called "Stigma" instead, its been nearly 20 years since the original super crappy ones came out and they still haven't shaken their old rep. What's funny is that S&W hasn't called them Sigmas for about a decade.

I've seen several folks shooting the stainless slide version at the range over the past few years and have never witnessed them malfunctioning particularly more. Just last month, a couple of young noobs were dumping a bunch of rounds next to me with one without any problems. I have no personal, experience with them other than from observation, but I think the current ones really aren't that bad, just nothing impressive either. I think it would give you the same satisfaction as owning a Toyota Yaris

Just for fits and shiggles I recently used my Sigma as a secondary during a rifle training course. Went 200 rounds or so without a hiccup while a Glock and BHP both malfunctioned several times (like the ARs being used while the AKs performed as expected - flawlessly). Dirt and debris got inside EVERYTHING during the course.

I'll take a Sigma over a Ruger any day. I HATE a slide mounted safety on anything... well maybe not a Makarov.

Amen to that, every loves to hate on the Sigma. If you don't mind the "Stigma" of owning one, and like a cheap, built like a tank semi-auto and don't mind the terrible terrible DAO trigger (did I mention terrible?), then it's for you. It is reliable though, good for tossing around in the dirt and dust while you baby your Glocks.
But I would still sooner settle for a Ruger, like a P series pistol or SR9.

Vehicle carry is legal here in TX, so I have a Sigma .40 riding with me.

Added benefit: no thief would try to use it in a crime because the trigger is so crappy.

People keep saying the trigger is crappy, but it really isn't for anyone who ever shot a revolver. Really, you've just failed to learn how to shoot it.

It's inexpensive, totally reliable, and can be carried or left in your nightstand hot for SD because it has a reasonably stiff trigger meant to discourage ND's or AD's. No safeties, so it's ready to go if someone is in your house.

I love my Rugers, but the safeties on them worry me in a home defense situation late at night when I've just woken up.

My 95 and Sigma are pretty much identically accurate. I'll admit to liking the SA trigger on the Ruger better for target shooting, but that's not the purpose of the Sigma.

My Sigma came with a nice, smooth, middling heavy trigger that mirrors many revolvers I've owned exactly. Anyone who can't shoot it well is failing, not the gun.

Anyway, I'll stop defending my Stigma now. Haters gonna hate~

jk,just picked one up on gunbroker for $250 shipped,like new.sucks though cause i have to wait.have a glock 19 in lock down till 20th.then i have been told i have to wait 21 days.

if anyone knows exactly fill me in lol.started dros and paid on 9/10,will pick up on 9/20.just purchased this sigma so now how long do i have to wait.i know i have a 30 or 31 day i cant purchase another handgun.but does that include the day i started the dros,or the day i pick up.

Pretty sure it's the DROS date... have to wait 30 full days after the first DROS to start the 2nd DROS.

Before I got my SW99, I was looking for a Sigma 40... while searching on the net, there's tons of info on how to get a better trigger feel.

Tabors wouldn't even bring one in if I paid up front.
