I see a few models OK'd for CA sale through FFLs but I've seen them for sale in only one SF/Sac area store. They look well made and of the "pre-lock" Smith configuration. I'm wondering if anyone has one, good experience or bad. I know looks can be deceiving and have read mixed reports of them.

You mean the Colt Cobra? Yea I have one in 32 S&WL. Awesome. Really I love mine. It was made in '70 and was at the tail end of the version without the underlug. Such a soft shooter, and accurate too. It was also made in 38special, but I think that is pushing the limit of it's aluminum frame. I would get a Detective Special (basically same thing in Steel) if I wanted a 38.
It feels good, is made well and has a good trigger and nice balance considering it has a 2" barrel. Here are a few obligatory pix

I've only had it less than 2 months but I am just in love with the thing. It's a cool little gun. Now if this isn't what you were referring to, oh well, at least I got to post my pix of this fine little revolver

Nope - got one of those, 1966 type still in the brown box with the "Join the NRA" card inside. I was looking for the Cobra Shadow - it's a less expensive Smith lookalike sans lock.
Cost is about $375.00 and they're CA OK - but I see them pretty much nowhere. Cobra doesn't exactly have a great quality rep, wondering if anyone has one and finds them to be lousy, OK or very good.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

I don't know anything about the Cobra revolvers.
I do have a Armscor M206. It's a modified copy of the Colt Detective Special. It is all steel and well built. I have about 800 rounds through mine with no problems. I paid $209 plus Tax, Lic and DOC fees in 2009. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a small 6 shot revolver.
Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
