I didn't know either of those facts. But I do now. Thank you. (I'm being sincere, not a smart ***)

This actually forms one of the better parts of the opposite argument. This is an observable phenomenon which gives some credence to the idea that a mag-disconnect is a potential liability. It's probably also the case that a defective magazine might render a handgun inoperable, where a model without this safety feature would at least "go bang" once initially, but then require a malf clearance or tap-rack to chamber the next round. A partly operable gun (which perhaps requires the manual cycling of each round or is a bit touchy with failure-to-feed) is preferable to a completely disabled one.

As I think I indicated earlier, it's an open question for me. I certainly don't hold religiously to any particular opinion regarding the issue. I have guns with and without this feature, and don't feel either puts me at a real disadvantage given the way I treat my guns.

I don't pretend to be an "authority." I'm just a guy who trains a lot, shoots a lot and has a perspective.

I didn't mean to sound flippant...I sometimes forget how long it's been since I learned some stuff. That means I forget how old I am

I understand, I hadn't taken it that way. I had typed up my response and clicked submit and saw that it might have been taken smart-alecky, so I edited it. There are no expressions to read via the internetz.
