1911 choice..

Are you shucking it hard enough? What kind of FTE are you talking about?

I'd go with the Springfield, or a S&W. I own a Springfield XD40 5', and love it, no probs whatsoever.

First I don't think you can return a firearm unless it's from family. But back to your 1911 pistol, whatever you choose just be sure to shoot some rounds down range with the ammo you will load it with and be sure it's functional and have confidence that it'll be your life insurance if there will be a time.

+1 on this. Most shops will refer you to the manufacture if you are having problems with a firearm. Due to the registration / DROS'ing of the gun few, if any, will do returns.

The only time my kimber malfunctioned was my fault for not giving it some lube. I reloaded the round and it fed fine and its had a few thousand rounds through it. My cd did the same thing and worked fine after a quick spray. Find a range you can rent pistols shoot them find whats comfortable and you shoot well and buy it.

Get a Sig 1911 or GSR. my .02 cents. And the 1911 is a very reliable platform.

I don't care for rails on a 1911 becase at 39oz the weapon is heavy enough without hanging stuff off it. As an old 1911 guy my advice is to go with either a plain S&W SW1911 or a Springfield Armory "Loaded". With magazines these are very reliable pistols. Of the two I like the S&W a little bit better because the fit and finish is usually better and so is the trigger. But if you must have rails the Springer is the way to go.

I tend to buy Kimber only as a last resort. Where the S&W's Swartz safety implementation is very robust the version that Kimber came up with is so delicate that it's not covered under warranty.

Don't count out the 1911 platform. I shoot a RIA MS and it eats everything that I throw at it in. Steel cased (TulaAmmo) to various more expensive brass cased 230gr FMJ.
No jams, FTF, FTE, stove pipes, etc. I have smaller hands and the slimmer profile of the 1911 (single stack) fits perfectly in my grip. The added weight of the steel and the bull barrel of the mid-size, keeps the barrel rise down (my hands are small, but I am 5'10" 190 lbs.). It's accuracy is good. If you are looking for aftermarket parts and accessories, you won't find a platform with more options and manufacturers.

So with my shotgun being unreliable, I'm thinking about of returning it for an refund and get on the 1911..

my problem is, I can't decided on which one, I have narrowed my choices down to A. Springfield 1911 Operator, B. Sig 1911 Railed or an Kimber..

my budget is around $1100 before tax and dros..

the main purpose of it will be range time.
out of the 3, which one would you recommend?

Just from your choices there, I would say the Sig. Though in a 1911 platform, my cheapo RIA .38super/9mm conversion GI model has been going for 2500 rounds now without a failure.

1911's from what I've read and seen aren't the MOST reliable sidearms.

I shot a CZ75 in 9mm but I just don't feel it..

I believe I was.. I let the range officer tried it and it was locking up too.. the kind of FTE's I was having was the bolt would lock up.. from the range officer.. the shells would get stuck around the chamber due to the heat expansion of the tin catching on it..

It took me an good 30 minutes just to go through one round of skeet.

Consider a Dan Wesson PM7 for your budget.

My buddy has a Beretta as well. He settled on a Colt XSE. I did as well. Our second choices were Kimber and S&W.

Made in USA counted unless it is USA made SA...However, I never see those at all. NM right?

Ya NM is US assembled. That's what my milspec is and I run it as my HD gun. Super reliable and accurate. If u don't mind the weight, a railed 1911 with a tlr1 is hard to beat in my opinion. But I love the 1911 platform so ymmv. I'd say send the 870 back (manufacturer probably). It should be 100 percent reliable. Then get a pistol. Try a few and go for it.
