The G19 was DC'ed FDE (not really the green I love so much, but different). My new Glock slide releases were always tough, so much that my 27 took many rounds before I could leverage it. I usually ended up just racking the slide(normally do that anyways).

250 rds sounds like fun. That's usually about the round count where I either blister or run out of ammo

Do you have more mags? I recommend a Lula loader, especially helps with new "stiff" mags.

Well, I got three. Two of them are permanently blocked 17 round mags(it's CA legal), and one rebuild kit sitting in my closet. I might sell it and buy just standard 10 round mag.
Surprisingly, it's not that hard to load the mags, I think maybe because they used to be 17, now they're 10.

My G26 does that, but it is somewhat unique to Glock, maybe some other striker-fired pistols, but the XD does not do that.

Using snap caps next time will solve this problem.

I field stripped it as well, and the firing pin was sticking out as well. I don't have much experience with striker fired pistols, so is this normal?
Not to worry.. its normal. Just to clarify my gen 4 G19 does the same thing.

she's a beauty, and loving it so far. Been dry firing and getting familiar with the grip. Even thinking about using it for HD after breaking it in.

                                Totally normal.

That "silver disk" just behind the breech face is your firing pin stop plunger. You press that in and rattle the slide, you should hear your firing pin moving back and forth. If you press it in with your finger and push the fp forward, you should see the tip of the fp comming out of the breech face as you show in your photo.
