Wow, surprising amount of hate towards the XD. No problems with it at all

I find my XD .40 a great hd weapon. I'm a lefty and the glock does not fit. I shoot a m9 and a 1911 as well and this is my hd perfered weapon.

I Have the compact and the sub compact in 9 mm, I also have two Glocks -21 & 30.....
The Xd's both shoot one inch/one hole groups at 7 yards, the Glocks are 2" groups just a little more ragged... I have carried both, depending on where and what I was doing...
EDC lately has been the subcompact Xd9/Kholster. Go and rent/barrow which ever gun feels best, put a hundred rounds through it. Then just shoot the heck out of it....

If you like the M&P, get it, or else you will always be thinking, what if, or I should have. I have shot both, and I am not a fan of the M&P trigger, hard to find the reset and feels like it is going to break, probably cause of how it is jointed.

I love mine in an od green service model, 450/450 flawless rounds through it. It eats anything I have put through it so far. I want different calibers and even some xdm's. Try them all out and get what you shoot best.

xd are fine weapons as well as glocks. They are simple, reliable, and accurate what more can you want.

I did my certification on one as well as shooting it a few other times. I shot it really well and enjoyed it having tight groups. Didn't care much for the feel of the M&P trigger, maybe like someone said earlier it's the joint. Glocks just feel like **** in my hand and can't stand them. Best suggestion is to try it out and see how it feels as well as the M&P and go off your feeling, everyone is different.

Don't like the grip angle on the Glock so I went with the XD and I love it.

Chambered round indicator is a pile? Just the opposite. Nothing to look for, just slide your finger across the top (daylight or pitch black dark) and you know if got a round in. I've been using a XD9 for 3gun for 8 years. Easily put 20,000+ rounds over those 8 years. Always goes bang, and the 40cal mags provide the adventurous an opportunity to load up more than 10 9s. Trigger breaks well due to the XD being a single action (not glock-like). Springfield warranties it for life, no mag disconnect (useful in competition), lots of cool accessories, even its own forum (xdtalk.com). I've shot the M&P. I'd say it shot no better, no worse. Go with what makes you happy.

I have an XD9 and a XD45 and like them both. No problems with either one. I also have three 1911s and like them also. So it is what you feel best with that counts.

Get what you like the best. Don't buy something else because it's on sale.

As for which is best, it doesn't matter. XD, M&P, Glocks...you can trust your life to any of them. Are all nice to shoot, and all have their proponents and detractors.

Personally, I compete with an XD9 Tac, have an XD45 Tac for home defense, carry an M&Pc for CCW, and my wife competes/HD/CCW carries Glocks. Pick for yourself what works for yourself.
