cheap 10mm ammo

so i finally pulled the trigger on a glock 20 sf today, and im looking to stock up on some cheap ammo to blow threw at the range. the cheapest stuff i can find is the Serbian Prvi Partizan PPU, Bitterroot Valley, or the blazer stuff. has anyone here had good luck with either one of these rounds? or recommend any other brands that i may have overlooked.

Of those choices the Blazer is the best.

The PPU is junk; only 850 FPS (you can ignore the advertised box flap speed on most ammo)

CCI Blazer TMJ actually runs at 1010 FPS (out of a claimed speed of 1050) which isn't bad actually.

Try to find some Remington Green Box (UMC) 180 MC (metal case) it runs at
1090 (published at 1150) and is sometimes available at Bass Pro. I came across a bunch of it out of State at a Gun Store (in Tulsa Oklahoma) I ended up buying a case and Fed Ex Grounded it home.

Another good source I've used is Ammo Brothers. They use new components (not reloads) and I would save the brass for future reloading.

You can buy bulk 10MM at the Gun Show. Again, most of it is new brass and runs good in the GLOCK.

Heavy hitters in the 10MM area are Double-Tap and Buffalo Bore. Double-taps 200 wfngc (hunting round) has a published speed of 1300 but only runs at 1120. (typical) However, Buffalo Bore (considered the premium A+ in 10MM) actually runs at 1330 (published 1350) and while expensive, is the ammo
to take with you in the woods.

Other expensive but FAST ammo is Elite Ammo which pushes a 175 grain silvertip STHP out at a real 1350 (compared to Winchesters actual speed of 1160 for this round)

If you really want to shoot for less money think about reloading. I do. You can cut the price about 2/3rds and you have more control over speeds.

Blazer all the way. I have found it to be *very* accurate out of my G29, and is the cheapest I can find locally.

Bob has it right here. To get started buy the cheapest "brass" cased ammo you can find and save the brass for reloading.

Miwall is 1050fps, which is still the "light" loading. I don't know of any factory ammo that's not boutique that is loaded to full power specs. If you want affordable full power ammo you will need to start reloading, unless you're rich or don't want to shoot more than one box a month.

Another option is buying ammo from The Firing Line, they have 10mm reloads for fairly cheap and I've never had a problem with them. They too are light loads.

grab a 40 S&W barrel from lone wolf and load 40 short and weak for half the money. I use my .40 barrel more than my 10mm barrel. The .357 sig barrels will also drop right in. Don't even have to change recoil springs. You'll love the flexibility from the G20.

Same bullet, same powder, different case, different primer. Except you get way more versatility from the 10mm round. How is reloading the .40 cheaper than the 10mm?

Reloading .40 is the same as reloading 10MM.

The advantage (for me anyway) of the .40 barrel in my G20, is I can actually BUY .40 at all gun stores and Wally World. Not true with 10MM.

Seriously, at one Gun Store recently I asked the young man behind the counter if they had any 10MM for sale..?.....10MM..? he said.....never heard of it.

Now that I reload 10MM (and .40 if desired) it's not that big of an issue.

I like the versitility of Glocks because they take aftermarket barrels without issues.

Today my favorite is my Glock 29.

I've shot Blazer and Bitterroot Valley out of my G20. No problems with either manufacturer, but I had the most fun with BV ammo.

And that's the only reason I have a .40 barrel too... I hate the .40 round, but I'd rather have a gun that can shoot something instead of nothing if it ever came to needing factory ammo.

Those are anemic numbers. I have 200gr @ 1250fps and you can probably squeeze a little more out of it, especially with a fully supported chamber.

TKM, if you have a couple of extra rounds that do 12000fps in 10mm, I can be down there bright and early tomorrow. I'll even supply a couple of pistols...HOWEVER if they don't do as you claim or blow up my guns....you just bought them.

10mm and cheap don't belong in the same sentence! Unless you reload of course. Then its affordable at best!
