    HK 45 vs HK USP?

I think many of us have this question - what advantages does the HK 45 have over the USP? I notice different styling and rail (if memory serves me correctly) but not much else. Can anyone fill us in on the major differences, I personally love shooting the USP .45 Full Sized and I would like to know whether right now is the right time to purchase or wait for the 45, if it comes to Cali (without it's balls of course).

    Thanks,
    Tony

Size and ergonomics are probably the biggest.

The HK45 is designed as a 10rd, the USPf is normally a 12. They did this to make the grip more comfortable. It also has the changeable back straps.

It's not revolutionary, it's simply a combination of a lot of updated ideas combined in a nice .45 package.

On the flip side to that coin - it is not proven, and if it does make it to CA it will have mag disconnect and the other thing, memory is losing the battle right now. I think we would all really enjoy to know the exact updates.

I think it is a win/win situation. USP is going to drop in price if you want a USP. 45 will come out and you can get that too. Works out for lovers of both.

I think I read that the HK45 comes with the o-ring barrel as well.

[QUOTE.]... Release date Oct of this year.[/QUOTE]

I've been waiting patiently since they first announced late last year. Release was supposed to be in April and got pushed to July, then August ...now I'm hearing October . Damn HK, they keep us salivating too long we may have to whet our appetite with a different model ...M&P45, Glk21SF, etc...
I like my USP45. The OD Green bottom and matte black top is a nice touch. I threw on a Hogue slip on grip too. Gives it a positive grip every time I pick it up.
My only gripe with the HK45 (just from looking at pictures) is I wish the HK45 had a different grip stiple design. The "spiderman" stippling makes it look like a toy. I hear the o-ring barrel should provide for better groups. The HK Elite has the o-ring too. I put a few mags down range and was very pleased.
Let's hope they're serious about the October release date ...and hopefully it gets put on the list for us who are living in prk-occupied territory.

+1 - that grip is fugly!

If they looked a bit nicer, it would be a nice alternative to a USP. I have an elite .45, which shoots great, but doesn't fit my hand quite right.

Indeed looks very nice! Hopefully it will meet the high expectations and of course the hype

If they didn't have the down-swooping lines on the side panels, it would look 1000X better, IMO. Everything else looks fine.

Does this mean the HK45 will only come in .45acp? So if one wants a smaller caliber, the P30 is the only option if it ever becomes available in CA?

What difference would it make if they made the lines in the grip straight? Or just removed them- the textured panel remains.

They angled & curved them for looks, and the look is ugly, JMO.

You have to admit- most folks will consider looks as a big part of buying a gun- it must at least look decent in their eye to buy it. If it's to be a beated carry piece, it won't matter, but who here would carry & abuse an HK45?

I plan on selling my USPf .45 Stainless to get a HK45.
