.45 recommendations SIG vs. Springfield

I am thinking about buying a SIG P220 or SIG 1911 Target Stainless or a Springfield Loaded Long Slide.

Looking at the DOJ roster, it looks like the P220 Elite Stainless might be ok, but the SIG website says it isn't CA compliant.

I would really like to hear opinions about these. I have not shot any of them.

sig 1911's are awesome. I would never tell some one to NOT get one. The sig p220 is an awesome .45 pistol as well.

The sig 1911's are made in America BTW.

Can I get a P220 Elite Stainless in CA? The roster lists "P220 (Stainless) / Stainless Steel".

I replace an older P226 with a P226 Elite Stainless last year. The fit and finsh on it is pretty nice.

If you like the Sig 1911 but can't get the one you like then you may want to consider a S&W 1911 instead. They're very similar and very accurate and there are lots of CA compliant versions.

Get an older Sig P220 if you go Sig, they are better than the newer ones.

Never shot a Sig 1911, but I've heard they are so-so. I hear this about pretty much all newer Sigs, and if my P226 is any indication, I'm inclined to agree.

I just picked up my first Springfield recently, like new made in 1992. Extremely accurate (for the price), very tight fitment. Then again I would expect nothing less from a hand fit and assembled gun.

First, I can't fathom owning a P220 instead of a 1911. I know the reasons people would say, but for me it comes down to a 1911 being a good gun, and a fun gun, all the time.....and a 220 is well, just not all that special.

The sig 1911s are great, and the Springfield can't touch it fit, finish, and feature wise until you get up to the TRP range......which is a LOT more than most Sigs.

I already own a Springfield 1911, it's just a mil spec but my next 45 purchase is going to be a Sig P220. I held it the other day for the first time and it just felt soooooooo good in my hands.

Im having a similar problem between a Kimber Warrior and a Sig 1911 Rail. Both are great guns from what I've read. I have the Kimber on order but it is on backorder, while the Sig 1911 is available. Also, the Sig is about $400 cheaper. Damn, I hate these types of decisions.
