.454 is a fun gun for sure! The only difficult part about owning the gun is convincing your friends to give it a try. I also rented the 44 at target masters before purchasing this gun...this one definitely packs more punch.

I started the dros for the 44 mag version, I reload and plan on hot rodding it a little bit ONCE im used to it.

IF i feel the need for a bigger gun ill probably get super red hawk and cut it down, Im not paying inflated prices due to a movie.

On a side note, after shooting the 44 my 45 feels like a pee shooter.

I would like to get one in 454. I'll wait a couple of years until the price toes down some though. They are not 1000 dollar guns.

I would. I've never shot a G21SF, but have shot a G21 and yes, the 44 Alaskan has significantly more felt recoil than there was when shooting the G21. Even more so with the .454 although I have to say, the 454 isn't the wrist breaker everyone says it is...a nice steady grip on it and you'll be fine.

A Ruger Alaskan is a bad choice of gun if you're trying to get over the bad habit of anticipating the recoil though!

Yes I DO have a 21SF it has much less recoil, I was just shooting some cheap Sellor and Bellot 240 gr ammo, on the lighter side of the spectrum for 44 mag.

I found the opposite, yes I would anticipate the 44 mag recoil, but I would pick up the glock 21 and it felt like a pee shooter to the point where it vastly improved my shooting, I have never been able to keep my eyes open when the shot breaks no matter what, but after the 44 the 45 was cake.

Agreed.
I meant when shooting the higher power caliber not anticipating the recoil is a huge challenge. It is for me anyway. Agree though, once you go back to a more "normal" caliber like 9, 40 or 45, those really feel like they are loaded with fairy dust
