i've got to start orienting myself to reloading. it would have to take "baby steps" for me; i've always felt intimidated by the process of it all.

When you shop at wal mart you are supporting terrorism. Support your local businesses and your community and schools and free enterprise. Wal mart is a parasite, a tape worm.

You could get 1000 rounds of 45 acp RWS from weaponsworld for 360 shipped. Slightly cheaper than WWB from walmart.

Either support your local gun shop, or buy online. Those are much better solutions than Walmart.
Turners is my local gun shop, and since they're a chain, I'd hardly consider them a shop worthy of individualized support. The problem with Turners is, while they carry most ammo brands, they don't keep their shelves stocked.

If I ask for Win Supreme Elite (HD), they'll say they're out and try to sell me Win Ranger instead, suggesting that it's just as good as the Supreme Elite, and completely ignorant of the fact that most people won't sway from what they've chose as their primary carry or HD round.

For plinking at the Range, if I ask for Win USA (Pistol) or Rem UMC (.223 M4 Carbine), they'll say they're out and try to sell me Fiocchi or something they think is comparable. Some people don't mind feeding their weapon 10 different brands of ammo, but I do, and I've always avoided doing that like the plague.

I've found that Big5 carries and consistently maintains an inventory of Win USA and Rem UMC for Range use, so that's where I get it from.

For HD, I play the waiting game with Turners.

Until my local gun shops charge less than $15 or $16 for the same ammo I can get at walmart for $11, I'm giving my money to walmart. Like someone posted, local gun shops can drive their prices down if they join forces and buy in bulk. They don't want to go thru the trouble? Fine, I wont go thru the trouble of giving them my hard earned cash.

I noticed this myself the other day. It was $18.95 for just a 20rnd box of remy 223.'s. That's a dollar a bullet... That's ridiculous! I don't think any 223. is worth a dollar..

I agree to an extent. Walmart is always up to some shady stuff. I worked pushing shopping carts in the rain around Christmas time back when I was in high school. I probably hated that job more than any other I've worked at and I've had some pretty pathetic jobs. They got caught taking out life insurance policy's on employee's with out them knowing and in the event of a death of that employee Walmart was collecting the money and never gave a dime to the families. One was I believe a guy who was a manager who supported his wife and kids. Bank came and took the house and Walmart just sat back and collected the cash. This really happened. Look it up. They now have law suites against them. MF'ers. I just remembered that. Now I'm pissed.

Walmart is the Wealthiest enterprise on the planet. They are worth more that bill gates at his peak. Which was 62 billion. Walmarts prof's were divided by the childern which there was like 6 or 7 of them Walton kids. Each got between 16-22 billion. Which makes the late Mr. Walton senior the richest man ever(if he was still alive). It was around $1XX billion... Sad part is he made that company from the ground up. From nothing. He earned every penny and from what I heard is that in his time he had some pretty strong morals.

                        I make 50 rds of 45 for $5.50 a box

Doesn't take a huge amount to get stared, get a lee breech kit for $110, a bullet puller for $15, a couple books at $20-30 each, calipers at $20. You can also find used stuff even cheaper. If you had $$300-500 you would be set up easy. Start collecting your brass now and that's one less expense. If anyone ever needs help getting statrted there are plenty of people here to help that are probably local to you. Once you reload you will laugh at these threads with people buying commercial ammo.

I used to buy the 250 round bulk packs of Remington UMC 230gr FMJ at Wal-Mart for $85.00, now it's $98.00!!! I guess I'll either buy online or start reloading.

When you start reloading you will wonder how you ever paid $85 for 250 rounds lol. It cost me about $110-130 to make a thousand 230 gr 45.
