    Colt 45

I inherited a 1969 1911 Colt 45 from my father and it is a full size with the original box and manual that says government on it but the slide is marked Commander. In the picture on the manual you can clearly see the slide is marked Government. Is this a factory mistake? What do you guys think?

    Can you post a photo?

If the pistol has a 5" barrel measured from the breech face to the muzzle, and the muzzle is about even with the end of the slide/barrel bushing then it is a Government slide. I would guess that you have a Commander with a 4 1/4" barrel in a box for a Government model.

It's probably a Commander. Either way, its a keeper.

Ummm...WTF? That sure looks like a 5" variant to me. Marked "Commander"?

I think that's a pos firearm you inherited and you should get rid of it as soon as you can. Just please let me know when you do so I'll be first in line.
