Big oops at the range tonight!

Saw some dude bleedin' all over the place a few lanes down from me this evening. He told the RO that his hand "got caught in the slide" which is also what the RO was telling shooters in the lanes who asked what happened.

When I was done shooting and was looking at some eye-candy (SA Loaded 9mm in SS) and talking to the guys, I found out the guys girlfriend said that dude was trying to clear a jam and may have shot himself in the hand.

When i go the the range, Im always afraid of others, more than I am of mechanical failures, even a slide coming off or a KABOOM, or my self errors, than of other people not being safe. I have an image or thought of a bullet blowing through the side wall of my lane.

I saw some blood in the pistol range at P2k the last time I was there. I let the staff know and they were appreciative. They said that almost once a week they get a bleeder from getting caught in the slide.

All these stories remind me of why when I first bought a handgun I also bought a packet of snap caps for it, so I could practice loading/unloading/clearing jams without the risk of shooting myself because I was a dumb***.

That sucks...my cousin shot himself in the hand over two years ago, with a S&W 357 revolver(HP bullets) right through the palm. He still doesn't have complete feeling in that hand but he's lucky to have a hand to use. Have to be more careful when handling a firearm, there are not toys.

They ought to rent rent out Kevlar helmets and vest at the range, to keep one from getting shot by darwin award winners
