    Looking for a plinking 9mm

I'm looking for a FULL SIZE plinking 9mm. I would prefer a metal alloy or stainless steel frame for better accuracy. I don't want to spend too much (under $400 used/new if possible).

As I plan to use it as a range gun and not a safe queen gun, I want something durable and reliable since it will be shot a lot.

I know a Glock 17 meets most of those requirements, but I have a G19 and G21 so I really don't want anymore Glocks and a metal frame would be nice. I have too many polymer frames already. I have a HK USPf .45 and a Sig P220R Carry on the way. And plinking with .45 is getting expensive.

I was thinking of a used Beretta 92FS (seen some used for $450, anything cheaper than that?). But any others??? Any suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ruger P89. I love mine (I like it better than the HK)
Its all metal, reliable as hell, Ive never had a FTF or any other type of failure no matter what I feed it. Great "less expensive" pistol.

+1 on the P89, kind of on the large side but nearly indestructable. Mine has performed flawlessly after many thousands of rounds.

                  I'm a Sig 226 guy...

I really like early (stamped slide) 226's. I would guess that you could find one for about $400??? Maybe I'm wrong, I haven't paid attention to what they're going for lately... Beretta 92's are a great pistol but they don't feel as good in my hand or point as well as the 226. Your hands may not agree, I'd suggest that you try both on for size! You would have more choices if you lived outside of CA. There are used Dutch Walther P-5's out there on the 49 state marketplace. I really like P-5's!

Yup, I would have to say P226.

I love sigs too and the P226 is a great gun...but its too much $$$ for a plinker. I'll end up wanting to take care of it and it will be a semi-safe queen. I want something that I will not care (not like as much) so I'll just shoot it to death.

I look into a CZ and Ruger.

I'm still learning about CA law, so I'm not sure what it is really possible to bring into the state. J&G sales in Prescott, AZ has some German police P38 used for $250. These have alloy frames, but are still large, fairly heavy pistols and have almost no recoil.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.
