    CZ 83's input..

Lately, I've been looking at a CZ 83's and it's started to grown on me. It will be just for range/plinking only. I already have sp-01, PCR..and just loved the ergonomics on these bad boys.

Input would be helpful from anyone. Please chime in. Thanks.

I own a cz82, 9mm short. Great gun, I put a houge rubber sleeve on it with finger grooves that fit my hand perfectly. the 83 is 380 I presume? That round is much easier and cheaper to buy, for plinking or just in case, it is perfect.

As with John above, I have a CZ82 and really enjoy it. I imagine that the CZ83 is just as much fun and of equal quality. Go for it!!

Yes, it's a 380 which I had some ammos left over when I'd sold my PPK/s. I think 82' has round trigger guard vs. 83's square. Other than that it's the same gun.

Tomorrow I'll visit my LGS, hopefully they still have it for me to DROS'.

          Thanks all.

The CZ-82 is chambered for the 9X18 Makarov. 9mm Short is another name for .380

Other names for .380 ACP include .380 Auto, 9mm Browning, 9mm Corto, 9mm Kurz, 9mm Short, and 9x17mm
            CZ-82

            CZ-83

You will see that the CZ-82 and -83 have the same trigger guard.

The CZ-82 is a C&R and is roster exempt. The ammo is not more expensive than .380ACP as mentioned earlier. If fact it is much cheaper. And, it has better stopping power than the .380. If you are looking for a good everyday all day range gun that is very accurate and affordable to shot that will also save you bacon if you need it to.

            I would get the CZ-82.

            I really like mine

            Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I like my CZ82 also and prefer the 9mm Mak over the 380acp.
I see the CZ83 in the above pic is in 32acp, didn't know it came in that cal...Seems like a lot of pistol for that cartridge!

Yeah, the CZ-83 is pretty much their "commercial" model. They originally only made the CZ-83 in 7.65 and 9mm Kurz. The 7.65 is very popular in Europe while the 9mm Kurz is very popular in a lot of other places. They are now also make the CZ-83 in the 9mm Makarov round too.

I have a CZ82. Great gun. Although, because it's a straight blow-back design, the recoil was a little sharper than I was expecting.

I have a couple of CZ82s. They are great pistols but the 12 round mags are hard to load ... that may not be a problem for you with 10 round mags.

I like the 9x18 Makarov better than .380 mainly because it's less expensive. I bought a case from J&G a couple of weeks ago (there are cheaper places) for $200 --about $10 / 50

                      I can't find .380 for less than about $14/50.

If you don't mind picking up a used surplus CZ82 in good condition rather than a new CZ83 you can save some money too: more than enough to buy your first 10 boxes of ammo.

I love my CZ 82! As far as the ammo goes you can usually find the brown bear online for $200 shipped for a case.

                          If you get a 9x18mm CZ-82...

There are no 10 round magazines for the 9x18mm CZ-82.

But, the .380ACP CZ-83 10 round magazines will work in the 9x18mm CZ-82.
Because of the larger diameter of the 9x18mm, the 10 round .380ACP magazine will only hold 9 rounds of 9x18mm.

So, instead of permanetly modifying your 12 round 9x18mm CZ82 magazines to 10 rounds, you can keep them as parts (for use in other states) and use the 10 round .380ACP CZ83 magazinesin your CZ-82.

Did you know 9mm short/9mm kurtz, ect. is a .380? I am sure you meant the 9x18mak. I own a CZ 82 also and its a great gun I bought mine for 134 + 30$ mag and a five dollar transfer fee from my dealer on new years.
