I have a milspec. Toss a wilson combat or cmc mag and you're good to go. Also, 1911s will probably like to run a bit wetter compared to a glock. Keep her happy and she'll work all day for u

In my opinion the 1911s to look at, and I'm an old 1911 guy, are the Springfield Armory "Loaded" or a S&W SW1911. Those two include all the features that the low cost "GI" models lack (like good sights) and have lifetime warranties. Expect to pay about $900.

Bill hit it on the nail above...You want one go get one...However, what is your criteria? Made in USA?, Quality (they all are), Price, Ambi safety?, features, resell, etc....As a result I went with a COLT XSE for my first 1911. Second was a Kimber so so (forgot the name and it was too much), and third was Smith and Wesson 1911...Para was fourth if it matters.

Hit or miss and not made in USA was issue with Springfield. Custom stuff like LB and such are too pricey and not easy to come by since I want to hold, feel, and check what I am buying, and RIA is nice but it is made in PI (I am even Filipino). The day I made a decision, the three 1911s were making it tough. I eliminated the S&W since I already have an M&P and variety of make is not bad. The Kimber was really nice...Close call but the 100year roll mark sold me. I will probably get a Kimber one day...NY is my home state and I have a Remy already.

Definitely rent and try some! I bet it will be the start of a collection.

Another vote for a colt, especially if you can find one with the 100 years of service roll mark.
