deal of a life time.
just go out and buy anything that fulfills both what you can afford and what you think looks good. do not settle with anything, you will end up upgrading if you do. im sure when people say you will end up spending 1000+, it means that a basic 1911 just doesn't feel right. just right off the bat, when you hold the GI, you will first notice you want to replace grips, and beavertail, and trigger. this is even before you shoot it. when you go and shoot it you will notice the sights need to be replaced. then comes a trigger job. it gets pretty addictive, since you want it to shoot tight and feel great.Comment

if you can somewhat shoot a glock halfway decent, from my experience you should shoot the 1911 much betterHey all every time I go to the got dang range, on the ride home I'm sitting in my truck driving and thinking dam I want a 1911! I'm going to take your replies seriously. Before that I'm going to ask, you need to understand I'm a Glock shooter. What would you tell me if I'm in the market for a 1911, given you have experience with 1911's. Also is all this internet 1911 talk true. For instance, "if you get a basic 1911, it may need work." "Oh you need to replace this part every 2,000 rounds." "Oh don't buy the low end G.I 1911's it'll have FTF, FTE etc." "Oh you need to spend 1,000+ to get it to run right." Above all, let's say I go to the local gun shop and have my interest on the Springfield Range Officer, G.I, loaded, or a Colt series 70 or 80. I pick one, and head to the range will I be disappointed in the performance in the 1911 performance to put rounds down range to preserve my life if needed? Or should I stick with my dam boring Glock 34 and 26 combo? Will this 1911 be that ***** I shouldn't have f'ed with?I hope you understand what I'm trying to ask.
also from my experience with my KIMBER RAPTOR 2, i have had good luck and have had ZERO mechanical failures after the 250rd break in period
the finish was sub par IMHO, but i didnt know that coming in, so i recently got mine refinished and had a reliability package performed, i havent shot it in its new config yet but i firmly believe it will run flawless
from what ive heard the minimum 1911 to get would be a SA loaded or something comparable from other brands, but take that with a grain of salt, everyones results may vary
good luck-Coi- N R A member since 2008

I hops thatsa typo lolOriginally posted by Stryprod;I won't speak to reliability as that is opening Pandora's box akin to Chevy v Ford but you'd be safe with any of the ****** more common names.Comment

Part of the fun of owning a 1911 is that you can do alot to it to make it super reliable and accurate. It becomes an addiction!!! That why I ended up with 10 of them. See my avatar.Comment

On Target in Laguna Niguel has 3 1911's for rent, the Springfield Stainless, Sig 1911, & Wilson CQB, I've been trying to rent that Wilson, but it's always out on the range or back at Wilson being serviced...Originally posted by driderHey any Angeles Range locals here would allow me to shoot their 1911, I'll bring my own factory .45acp?Comment
