reason why i am asking is that i never heard about Wilson Combat until recently so I am checking around
are you going to shoot it? will normal wear bother you since you plan to keep it in "super mint condition"?

As long as you can swing it, here is what I recommend:

    1) Order a Wilson, customize it with options and make it perfect just for you. It will take like 8(?) months to build.

    2) In the meantime get a "shooter" 1911. Depending on your budget anything from a $400 Rock Island on up. If you can swing it I'd get a mid-tier Springfield, like a "Loaded" model.

Now while you are waiting for the Wilson to come in, shoot the heck out of the springfield knowing it's your shooter. Then when the Wilson comes in you can shoot it only periodically to keep it in "super mint" condition. Most of the time you can use your shooter springfield.

      3 Kimber =/= 1 Wilson Combat.

Not with my money, not with your money, not with anyone's money.

Once he shoots the Wilson, he'll never go back to the "shooter" 1911.

It is NOT a fair comparison because of the price, but Wilson Combat if you have the money. There is no comparison. The price is there for a reason.

You can not order a custom gun unless you single shot it, it must be delivered as is from the rostered gun, already tried it.

But your answer has already been given, Wilson.

Are you better off than you were four years ago?

Go Wilson, shoot the living hell out of it, and be happy.

I like my Kimber Ultra Carry ll as well as my Raptor ll. I cant spend that much on a handgun. $1,200.00 is my limit but I would like to have a Wilson as well. It doesn't mean Kimbers are crap though. That is for sure.

sorry I"m spoiled living in the Bay Area -- the roster seems like a bad memory from the past

well.... deposit placed for Wilson Combat Light Rail (CA approved) model..... now it depends how quickly it will get fulfilled

ps cant order custom gun... it has to be CA approved and custom thing is not "approved"

well its black with light rail so got some customization

Hopefully by that you mean access to single shot exemptions, because by god I know that SF has not waived the roster before Gods country here in OC

yes exactly, easy access to single shot exemptions.

Hopefully we can all be celebrating the demise of the roster soon....

I'm not saying 3 Kimber's will equal 1 Wilson Combat. I'm just saying, I would rather have 3 weapons to enjoy than just 1. Wilson Combat makes awesome weapons, however until I'm a millionaire I will not be buying one.

Kimber vs. Wilson isn't much of a comparison. Get the Wilson if you can. Best deal is on a used CQB. Got one for $1800. Just as good as a brand new $2550 CQB but left $750 to get more reloading supplies to blow through. I won't go so far as to say Wilson makes the best 1911....ALL the comparable 1911's at that level are amazing. I WILL say that Wilson makes my favorite 1911 as it comes from the shop however. Their CS is THE BEST too! They really do set the bar for excellence!
