COLT DELTA ELITE 10MM SS..help me customize it.

I have a colt 10MM delta elite in Stainless that i bought new in the 90's. Put a wolff recoil spring kit but other wise its stock.

My budget is about $1000. I'd like to have Robar refinish maybe in their new Ploy-T2 finish. Any other thoughts or suggestions on who and what should be done?

How is the cond now? If you refinish it the collecting value is gone -

You have one of the nicest pistols ever made. Please leave her the way she is.
      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Its actually in great shape...mostly a safe queen. ill try to post a photo or two. It does unfortunately have the idiot mark as this was one of my first 1911s back in the 90s. I never thought of it as a collectors piece....you guys are making me feel guilty. I can always mess around with one of the SA or kimbers.....

Not too many of those Deltas around - I'd look in to one of the others -

What exactly are you looking to do? You want a carry piece or nice range piece -

There are some really well put together out of the box 1911s out there -

Nothing crazy, maybe trigger job, polish feed ramp, maybe match trigger, full length guide rod, better sights....i always liked the DE gold cups but didnt have the money to buy one back then. I've only shot the DE a few time so i dont know its shortcoming, which is why i posed the questions. It would mostly be a range piece.

I have a combat elite which wilson worked on a decade ago with great results, so i thought something similar was due for the 10mm.

can take some ideas from either of these... personally wouldn't go with a FLGR
                WTS all BNIB: Colt S70 Repro, HK45c, Gen4 G19

I have a degc...after my research, it is recommended is to keep the plastic rod guide + the dual recoil set-up.

I personally do not value series 80's Colt as collectors item, so i'd say customize it, series 70 and before colts are a different story

Not much collector value, they bring a premium no matter what since they are one of the few 1911's available in 10mm Auto. As long as you dont damage the pistol while modifying it you will always be able to get top dollar for it.

I think there are only 2 things I would actually change (Aside from the Wolff spring)
One is the grip safety. I dont really care much for the way the Colts angle downward compared to the more popular beavertail. Thats really a preference thing though.
Second are the sights. I vote for some Tritium combat sights

Your idea is EXACTLY what I did with my '09 Reissue Delta. I got rid of that grip safety and put in an Ed Brown Beavertail. Then, I installed a Trijicon front & a Novak Lo-Pro Carry Tritium in the rear. Oh, and I just couldn't STAND the fact that this amazing pistol came with a plastic mainspring housing! So, that went in the trash, & in went a Wilson SS arched MSH.

The sights are bad - I'd agree with the beavertail also -

OP - The finish looks great -
