    I have a Sig 1911 SS Target.

I did my first detail strip the other day. I was very impressed to find all the important bits like the sear, hammer and the back side of the connector paddle, etc. all polished up to a mirror finish, squared up, relieved and razor sharp. The fit and finish on my gun is equivalent to a much more expensive semi-custom 1911. It is very accurate.

The down side to the Sig is the non-traditional square slide (it has grown on me), the 80 series style drop safety (which some say makes for a little more vague trigger, I have not found this) and the external extractor which works flawlessly but detracts from the traditional 1911 looks (my opinion).

I liked my first Sig 1911 so much, the other day I traded one of my Smith 686+'s for another Sig 1991.

I think for a grand it is an amazing piece.
When asked what qualities he most valued in his generals, Napoleon said, "give me lucky ones."

I have a Sig 1911 and I love it. It's reliable and very accurate. I almost bought the Kimber but got a better deal on the Sig so I jumped on it. I have several other sig pistols and a Springfield 1911, but this gun has turned into my favorite. I find it much more accurate then my P220.

Kimber for sure, I love sig to death but when it comes to 1911's Kimber definitely wins.

Two Kimbers, lots of problems, lots of Sigs no problems.

Does Kimber have the firing pin block safety?

I have a Kimber Custom II and I like it. It's nice for sure and has nice features but I must say that there is a big Kimber fanboy club. For many, Kimbers just are the cat's behind and there is no other. Kimber certainly does not lack for variety of choices with what seems like a thousand different flavors.

I haven't shot a Sig 1911 but the ones I have handled are nicely made with excellent fit and finish. I would like to get one someday. I have a couple of P220s and had other Sigs so I do like them. I also agree that if you aren't set on a 1911, a P220 is an excellent .45ACP pistol.

I would go with a sig over a mimber.

I fired both A LOT. If I was buying one to carry it would be a SIG . As a range gun I would get a Kimber with adjustable sights. The two Sigs that we tested had ZERO issues for about 3000 rounds of Winchester Ranger JHP's and Fed HST+P. Kimbers TLE's had some jams and a broken extractor. Kimbers were somewhat more accurate. With the ammo we used.

I personally wouldn't get either but if I had to choose, I would get a Kimber TLE. My local range had to send their rental Sig 1911 back for repair many times while they only sent back the Kimber once. This isn't representative of all Kimbers and Sig 1911s since there are a lot of factors involved such as round count. That's just my personal take on it.

I shot both and i feel the kimber quality and finish seems nicer than the sig
However I've had a bunch of issues with the kimber, none seen on the sigs

My Kimber Custom II has been pretty sweet so far. I've got about 1500rds down the pipe without any failures of any kind all of my reloads from round 1. Although I did experience some 1/2 cock hammer following after repeatly dropping the slide on an empty chamber with the thought of "Breaking in" the slide to frame fit. Kimber took care of me with top notch service. Pure "Rookie" 1911 owner mistake. You can always single shot a Ruger SR1911, Less expensive and sounds good so far, Or get a series 80 colt. The're a lot of really good manufactured pistols available for that price range.

I recently bought a Kimber Ultra Covert II. So far I love the thing. Just got done with the break in period (500 rounds) during which I had ZERO issues. No FTF, FTE, or anything. Which I was elated about. Kimbers are built pretty tight brand new and the break in loosens them up just a smidge due to wear. Id buy this pistol again in a heartbeat. As far as SIGs go... Never have shot any of their 1911 clones but I have shot 220's, 226's, 228's and a 230 or two. All models worked without a hitch. Now mind you, all of them belonged to various friends of mine and were well used and broken in.. I never have personaly owned a SIG. I have been reading that some folks arent happy with the newer SIG's.

SIG 1911 TTT Owner here and after shooting and handling several kimbers and field stripping and cleaning a stainless railed custom 2, there is little question in my mind that the fit and finish and qc of the SIG is head and shoulders above the Kimbers THAT I HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH. Just want to be sure and emphasize that point. Not saying all Kimbers are junk our that all SIGs are gold. Only speaking from personal experience.

Between the 2 I would get the SIG.

I am actually seriously thinking about a railed stainless SIG to put my .460 rowland conversion on then get a Ruger SR1911 for a basic .45ACP.
