UPDATE - Kimber or Sig 1911

Please help me decide. All input is much appreciated.

I have been looking at 1911's for quite some time. I have shot a Kimber but haven't shot the Sig. I don't know of any ranges near me that rent the Sig. I was at the LGS yesterday and was deciding which Kimber to get when the owner recommended I check out the Sig. You get more features for the buck but there is something about a Kimber that is calling my name.

What are your experiences with the Kimber vs. the Sig? I want to pull the trigger (pun intended) this weekend. I am between the Stainless TLE II and the Sig Stainless 1911. Not sure which model the Sig is.

Thanks in advance for the help. Calgunners are awesome!!

Kimbers have excellent trigger pulls (straight out of factory).

I have no personal experience with Sig 1911's, but if given the chance, I'd get one with a rail in a heartbeat.

My Kimber Custom II TLE/RL is a tackdriver, and I'm a lousy shot with my Glocks.

    YMMV, just my 2 cents.

I have Kimber and Sig (but not the 1911) and for what it's worth I'd go with the Kimber. Two companies making great products, one just been doing 1911's for a long time.

Depends. If you want a more "traditional" style 1911 pistol, and ome that can be customized to your liking, then I'd lean towards the Kimber.
If you're not concerned about having a "true" 1911, then take a good look at a Sig. Heck, look at the Sig P220 while you're at it!

Kimbers are very nice shooters with nice triggers. I like the Meprolights on my Kimbers better than the Novaks on my S&W1911. It will take a little bit to break in, so you might have a couple jams when you first start shooting it, but after that, it's an excellent pistol. No experience with the Sig, but I do hear good things about it.

I only have one 1911, and it is a Sig Nitron with rail. Work flawlessly never have any problem. Look great, and very accurate.
I have not tried the Kimbers before, but that doesn't mean that they are not great pistols.
I bought the Sig because I like the ways its look, and at a great price.
            Both are great pistol.

I have had very good luck with my Kimber Custom II and would recommend one. No experience with the Sig 1911's though to be fair.

it will be hard to find someone with both guns to give you an accurate comparison. i have heard more problems with kimbers then sig recently. although kimber will hold its value better. it all comes down to which one you think looks better(sig). lol

I've owned both - Kimber has a mass market appeal of a "custom" 1911 where they're including a lot of options and building it into the price.

Sig has a very aggressive pricing strategy and they do deliver a good value.

I can sell both, but my preference is Sig due to the number of options that they do to my preference.

I love them both! It comes down to preference, do you like the square slide?

My Sig 1911 is highly accurate and reliable. The ones I handled recently at Turners are even tighter and finished nicer. I'd take Sig over Kimber.

Get the Sig. I have never read a bad review on a sig 1911. I have read some on the kimbers. but they are both great 1911 companies and make great 1911's.
I do not own a Kimber so my opinion is bias.

Also a sig 220 would be quite a nice pistol to have if you already own a 1911. If not then get the 1911. Everyone needs a 1911 and a glock in their collection.
