    LCR , is this normal?

I'm thinking this is just wear, is this normal? seems like the black finish is chipping off little by little, but the metal seems fine, not gouged.

WOW! That's a lot of wear, or something else.

I have about 800 rounds through my LCR and there isn't even the smallest amount of 'wear' noticeable. Almost all rounds are 125 gr rnfp lead. I've only shot 20 or so 'carry loads' through it. But still, I think something is wrong with your LCR.

Give Ruger a call, that's not normal.

The LCR is painted, it is fancy paint, but still paint. Paint chips and wears, that is unavoidable. Para had a miserable paint on their guns for several years and finally switched to a better product this year. Ruger may need to switch products as well. Don't be real surprised if the factory considers it "Normal wear and tear". Give Ruger a call and see what the attitude is, they may be willing to take care of it.

I have about 600 rnds thru it so far, mostly all regular velocity stuff. I'll just keep shooting it, hes right it does just look like paint. If bigger pieces start coming off i'll call ruger.

My lcr has the same issue. Functions fine, but paint chipping off in same places as yours.

I emailed ruger a picture just to be on the safe side, but it still functions fine and i'll continue to shoot it. Thanks for the help

Yeah, but its a bummer that so much wear shows after such a short life....600 rounds?

Ya'd think they woulda tested out their product/paint prior to hitting production....that is, if that is considered NORMAL wear for the gun.

Well I guess its good to hear it's not going to affect any sort of functionality. It just sucks to hear that wear like that after 600 rounds is normal.

I have one little chip of paint gone, maybe about 1 mm in diameter or a little less, after about 2k rounds through my LCR. There seems to be a lot of variation in this; I saw another one that'd only shot about 500 rounds that looked similar to the OP's photo.
