Yes, you definitely should. I was on the fence as well about doing this till I rented two 1911's about a month ago when I was deciding whether I should get one as well. Rented out two Springfields, a Loaded 9mm and Mil-spec .45. I was also trying to decide at the time which of the two calibers I would eventually go with. Calibers and recoil aside, the one thing that I really found interesting were the triggers. Both of them broke about the same in terms of weight. They both had little take up and very short resets which I was expecting.
The one difference that really made me look into aftermarket trigger kits for my XDM was the distance at where they broke. The Loaded had a long trigger reach. That really felt comfortable in the hand when pulling the trigger. The Mil-spec had a very short trigger reach. Definitely shorter than where the stock XDM trigger breaks. I was really fighting not to flinch with this trigger . Maybe it's my long fingers, but I hated the Mil-spec because of this. So then I went about looking for trigger kits that might help the XDM trigger break farther away from the stock position. So, that's why I went with the PRP Ultimate match kit. It definitely breaks farther forward from the stock position which makes for a more comfortable shooting experience for me at least. I know the Springer Precision trigger kit is also supposed to be good but from reviews I've read, their trigger kits breaks farther back. Not sure if it breaks at the same stock position or shorter, but have come across a few reviewers who were looking for a shorter trigger reach and found what they wanted in the Springer. Hope that aids in your decision making.
