Remember if you hunt it down and end up shooting it, you have to eat it.

That looks like a really fun tool!!!

Damn little gophers are unusually tough this year! I am still fighting mine. Good luck with yours.

I live in S OC and discharging a firearm, marker, BB gun, sling shot, etc is illegal.

I had one gopher that eluded me for over a year. I built road flares wrapped in oil soaked cloth wrapped in duck tape and tried to smoke them out. Used pepper spray, gopher gassers, poison, water and NOTHING killed this bast ard.

Finally nailed him with a trap. He made his evening (made morning ones too) fresh mound (lawn looked like a B52 carpet bombed it) and I closed it up. Shortly thereafter he reopened the mound in defiance. This time I inserted a trap with a long string tied to 12" dowel (keeps him from taking your trap away) and set it such that if he approached the entrance he'd for sure get caught. I again closed off the tunnel and about :08 later the string and dowel took off. After exerting about 20 pounds of force the trap and one HUGE gopher broke through the entrance. He was hooked by the mouth and I paraded him around for about :10 while my neighbors congratulated me on finding Osama Bin Gopher. The terrier finished him off.

If you dig the tunnels out and put traps in it will work a lot of the time.. get em in pretty far.

Otherwise if you know someone with phostoxin (I am not condoning this) have them help you and notify the county.......
#7, "to purchase restricted use phostoxin (aluminum phosphide)"
It works but not worth the trouble.

Also #7 "For gophers we've blown them up with a Rodex 4000(propane/O2)"

We've had the old school version(http://www.rodexindustries.com/index.html)for a few years,it's fun but it's more work leveling the area after the explosion.

            I hate gophers.

I ordered the macabee from amazon, should arrive tomorrow. Yesterday my wife poured some chlorox down a fresh hole and stuck the hose in there as well. She said it doesn't look like the gopher made any new holes today...fingers crossed.

Traps. When I did professional landscaping back in the day that is what we used. Set two per tunnel and check each day. They key is not just to stick one down a hole, but find out which way the tunnel is going and set them in the middle of a tunnel (you will have to open a small hole) and set them facing opposite directions. Either way it comes, it has to run into one.

Next best method is a Dachshund...
