    Glock 17 1st Generation?

I may have an opportunity to get a Gen 1 Glock 17 that's supposed to be in excellent shape with very little use for $375. I have several Glocks but all are Gen 3 and one is a Gen 2. I know this model was the first model Glock made but don't know if it is a good catch or if it has any limitations that would be worth passing. Can anybody who knows their Glocks tell me if it's worth it or not and can you also tell me any limitations it has compared to a more recent generation Glock 17? I don't care about having a light rail, just a flawless functioning gun. Thanks

Not a glock expert but I love all of mine, for $375 how could you go wrong? I would imagine the older ones are harder to come by and there for worth more but that's just my .02.

There are plenty collectors out there that would pay more. They're getting more and more far and few between.

I prefer the grip on the Generaton Ones....In fact I sold a perfect GEN one to a man in your area....she will run 100% without a hitch.

EC70X was the serial number......here she is

The good thing besides the price is the GLOCK will upgrade the weapon NO CHARGE....however, it was already upgraded by a Glock armorer.

For $375 you can't go wrong.

Buy it.. I've had one since 1995 and love it to this day.

If it hasn't been done, you can send it into Glock for updated parts and function testing. They'll probably even test fire it a few times and check the sights.

I still own my early Gen 1 that I bought new in 1986 (Serial # ARXXX, first one my gunstore had). I carry it whenever the situation allows me to carry it instead of my G26. I still remember getting crap at the range back in the day - "why do you want a toy gun?" "Get a steel pistol", "that thing will never last, its a fad".

I've swapped some goodies (Meprolite sights for the original plastic adjustable ones, extended slide stop release, etc.) and had some trigger work done by Glockmeister. I've kept all the old parts and it could go back to its original status (inlcuding pre-recall firing pin setup) if it does become a super valuable collector's item. After many thousands of rounds it still shoots like butter, and has never had a malfunction despite any and all kinds of ammo it has shot over the years, from my brother's insane handloads to steel cased Wolf.

I would trust my life to it and will never sell it. Many pistols have come and gone from the safe since I bought it.
                      Slow justice is no justice.

I was shooting a Glock when shooting a Glock wasn't cool.

My 1986-production Gen1 kaboomed on me a couple of years ago. Glock replaced the frame for free, but used an Gen3 frame. Great customer service, but I wish it still had a Gen1 frame.

Sounds like it's unanimous to get it. I already had my mind made up that I wanted it and everyone here reinforced it. When I get this gun it's going to be a shooter. Perfect excuse to start doing some shooting matches! Here's a picture of the package:
