Not illegal, but I wouldn't sell it. You never know if your Bar-Sto might crap out for any reason, or if you ever want to sell your firearm to someone, you might want to put the factory barrel back in.

If your barrel has an S/N I would keep it, just cause I wouldn't want anyone else to commit a crime with a barrel with MY GUN'S S/N anywhere near it.

Legally it is a metal tube and subject to the regulations of metal tubes. IOW: it is legal to sell, give, lend etc. I personally would keep it. I doubt there is much of a market for used factory Sig barrels, so you won't get much for it. It is, or should be, numbered to your gun. That alone would make me want to keep it.
Just curious, why replace a perfectly good barrel in the first place?

I also suggest you keep the factory barrel.

I've had experiences with other match barrels on a Sig failing to feed HP ammo correctly.

Match barrels are made to really tight tolerances to get that extra 1% of accuracy out of the gun. HD HP ammo is also made to the max tolerances (and sometimes beyond) to get that extra 1% of velocity out of the bullet.

Mix the two and you get jams.

In theory: CA knows you own x pistol with the factory x barrel. Then you sell it to some chucklehead that puts it into his P226. Then he goes out and shoots somebody with it. Then you get a knock on your door by some kind of Authorities asking where your gun is and where were you on the night of blah blah blah.....

Maybe it cant happen, but for $50 why would you bother risking it?

I wouldn't buy a weapon without the original barrel.

A barrel, in the U.S.A., is legally like a piece of pipe in a hardware store. Just better quality. I'd keep it but you can sell if you want.

despite the manufacturer stories that those two empty shells you get from them as proof of test firing arent kept for ballistics I'd imagine they in fact are and now there is a possibility someone using a barrel attached to the firearm in a crime.
So they shoot into a barrel of water, fish them out, index them, store them, and when someone gets shot with a 9mm or whatever the FBI schelps to every pistol manufacturer in the world and opens up hundreds of thousands of little envelopes expecting a match, without a warrant............etc?

Funny thing too, if someone says to you "XYZ is illegal" and you correct them, the general response to that is "Show me where it says I can do that" or "Show me where it says it is legal".

Does "It" say that it is legal to wear a red hat, that you can paint your car yellow?

I miss common sense and logic sometimes.
