The only controlled part of that firearm is the frame. Sell away.

I can't imagine why it would be illegal. It's just a barrel. But you really should hold on to it. You never know if you might need it one day

Barrels aren't regulated so sell away, although I'd simply keep it as a spare.

It's perfectly legal to sell a barrel.

However, If the barrel is serial numbered to your gun, i would hang on to it. Having matching numbers on components of a gun tend to make it more desirable/valuable than something that doesn't.

Your friend is wrong. Is he a foreigner? In some countries the barrel is the regulated part of the firearm. That is why some pistols have serial numbers on the barrel, slide, and frame - to comply with the various laws difference countries have regarding firearms. BHP and CZ75 have all those serial numbers everywhere so those guns can be sold in different markets.

Your friend is a FUD machine..

I would keep it just for the resale value in case you ever sell your weapon.

despite the manufacturer stories that those two empty shells you get from them as proof of test firing arent kept for ballistics I'd imagine they in fact are and now there is a possibility someone using a barrel attached to the firearm in a crime.

I wouldn't worry about it myself but you may want to keep a record of the sale just in case. As for selling the barrel I wouldn't just because barsto barrels like all match barrels dont work with all ammo and you may need to revert in zombie land to reloads

Perfect example of how degraded our society has become and how tyranny has crept in; something so harmless and innocent (and obviously legal) is perceived by some one as potentially illegal. The shift occurred when common sense reigned and people did things (that did not involve harming another party or property) until they were told it was illegal to now, when people think everything is illegal until told otherwise... Sad. God bless America, or what is left of it.
