    Have you decided on caliber?
You may want to decide on that first...

In my experience, Sig's always go bang every single time you pull the trigger. They're very accurate and reliable. But I agree with ALOC, if you can, try each pistol for yourself and see which one you like best.

Hi guys well mu first choice was actually a sig 226 elite but I saw the FN 5.7 I was about to get it but the sales guys said its a good plingking gun lol anyways as for the caliber I'm actually thinking about a 40 or a .357 but a 9mm should be fine too anyways any inputs on HK's ? Sigs I heard a lot of good stuff about it no negatives yet except fpr tje bluing rubbing off on some models but i think thats just a normal wear.

I dont know where you stand on your economics, but for me it was a really good decision to stay with a 9mm, the cost of ammo really matters, for instance, I have fired over 1000 rounds of 9mm ammo in thr last 6 weeks, that translates into 220 dlls plus tax, leave aside de range fees.
Had I bought a .45 , the cost would have been more like 380 dlls plus tax and range fees.
Of course, you dont have to shoot that much, that often, but then how long will it take you to be proficient with your firearm?

Well lets just say i will probably be shooting around 1-3 x a week to get to get to know the gun maybe a couple weeks to be proficient shooting which ever I'm buying this friday. And as of now im leaning on a sig 226 then prolly buy another .357 barrel thesame time to have some variety anyways If I still dont Get to decide im just going to get a kimber 1911 and in a .45 cal so many choices

That would be an expensive move, that conversion kit is over 300 dls if I remember right...

If you like the 1911 frame (kimber) but like the price of the 9mm rounds, why not consider the Springfield EMP? I have tried the Sig 226 & 229 and they're fun to shoot. I own an EMP, and the Kimber is also great but belongs to my husband. They're all well made, but in a side by side comparison the EMP and Kimber are hands down a better looking gun. Choices, choices

                            Your First Gun

I answered another post regarding purchasing a first gun with this reply:

As others have mentioned, it would be best for you to find a range that rents the guns you have in mind. While all of the guns you have listed are good, you will find that one or more is/are comfortable in your hands while others no so much. Even if they feel good in the hand, you may or may not be accurate with that particular gun. Operation of the gun is also a strong consideration. Many people prefer Glocks, Springfields or M&Ps for their ease of operation. Others like the DA/SA operation of Sigs. Some like the CZ type of set-up or a single action only type of platform.

Only handling and firing the various guns will tell you the ones that feel good in the hand, are easy to operate and shoot accurately for you. Doing your homework before purchasing will help you make an informed decision without regrets later.

On a personal note, Glocks don't feel good in my hand. M&P's and Springfields are okay, but for me Sigs are comfortable, I shoot them accurately and I like the DA/SA operation. I prefer the P226 but my wife likes the P229. From a cost standpoint, we shoot 9mm for range work but keep a P229 in .40S&W for home defense.

                            Hope this helps...
