Apart from the ammo and the odd drop of oil, this particular handgun is never going to cost me any more money than it's original purchase price of $95.

Not at all a bad price for a handgun that works reliably.

Haha- I worked the trigger of that AMT myself, and polished the feed ramp. I bought it off my buddy's bro when it kept jamming up on him for $100. After the ramp was polished and smoothed, it fed 100%

If you get a hold of an unmodded one, wait until you see what the trigger REALLY is like

I've got a hi-point 9 myself. I put about 600 rounds through it today. I got to about 570 rounds, and then it started misfiring some rounds. The firing pin wasn't hitting it hard enough. There was alot of friction on the slide. I cleaned it and there was tons of crap built up from all of those rounds. It was insanely dirty.

It shoots good. It's pretty accurate, I was plucking cans all day long. For $140 with a lifetime warranty it's a good deal.

I have also met guys who have had their Hi-Points melted in house fires just to have the factory replace them with new guns. The reason for this is because its easier and more economical to just stamp a new gun than it is to fix the old one. trust me, I know!

I used to own the .380 model. Was accurate and reliable but not pretty, lightweight, or slim for the caliber it was chambered for.

I`ve bought the C9 a while ago out of curiosity. For the first 600rds or so it went bang every time, but then it started misfiring like 2-3 times per mag. It appears that the firing pin got bent somehow. The accuracy is acceptable once you get used to the horrible trigger pull (the worst trigger ever IMO).
The only machined part is the barrel, the slide is made of potmetal, and it`s a real PITA to field strip it (you gotta drive out a retaining pin to remove the slide).
I don`t want to hurt someone`s feelings but IMHO it`s a total POS, lifetime warranty or not. I agree with those who said that ANY commie surplus pistol is a better option.
