So putting Swartz aside for the moment... why does Mr. Yam think the Series 80 safety in a Colt is any better than the Series 80 safety in another brand of 1911? That's kind of where I have to call "shenanigans"... but I'm willing to learn if there's a legit reasoning here. I'd think it all boils down to each manufacturer's design specs and tolerances as to which (if any) are more problematic or better than the others.

+1 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ But rather throw out here what I honestly think of the man, I had been following closely any news, bulletins, flyers, or magazine articles I could find, if any of those LE agencies that adopted Kimbers if they have any complaints, negative comments that is ascribed to the Swartz---None!

In addition, I had been hanging out at shooting ranges, befriending shooters that owned Kimbers (there are so many here in California), asking several LGS that stock Kimbers and other brands, I have not encountered anyone that has experienced anything negative that could be ascribed to the Swartz.---None.

But here, in the internet, its another story!

Thanks Kruzr, I was gonna link some of your posts from 1911Forum for those who are a influenced by internet nonsense. And I can bet, That in the right hands, My Custom II is guaranteed to shoot 1.5"......

What, factory Kimber Custom II with 1.5" guarantee? This I must see. Also, I didn't know 10-8 performance was filed under internet nonsense these days either. Sure the man's opinionated, but he has done more work than anybody here (I don't see any other 1911 specialist gunsmiths here, please do correct me if I'm wrong). His aggressive maintenance schedule is also suggested for duty weapons, and it's not like he's suggesting you need a new barrel. Nobody's saying you should expect the Schwartz safety to fail - otherwise Kimber/S&W/etc would have gone out of business a long time ago. However, if I have the choice in purchasing a gun and that's the only difference, I will opt for the gun without it. YMMV.
