With the right load, fireball and noise is almost equal to an LAR Grizzly in 45WM. Long in the grip due to the cartridge it fires (again like the Grizzly).

Unless they are planning a mag disconnect though, you won't see one here unless someone brings one in under special circumstance and then wants to PPT...

Too truncated or exotic of a bullet shape and weak ammo don't work well. Desert eagles have same issue. Magnum research used to put out a list of what they found to work in the guns.

Here is a side-by-side comparison with a Government model 1911 to give you a sense of scale..."a few non-standard 1911 pattern pistols" (sorry for the crappy composition, but you've got me digging around in the safe too late at night to make nice pictures):






It may not look like a lot in the pictures, but the difference in grip length feels huge in your hand. You can see by the side-by-side of the cartridges and magazines, that the length differences are significant.

Those are beautiful 1911s! How much of a difference in size of the grip is the Coonan from the 45 WM?

I should have bought one of those in the early 90's when I turned 21, I had no internet back then and narrowed it down to a S&W 1006, S&W 686 or the slightly used Coonan that Target Masters had, I think it was like $550 back then. Anyways, I bought the 686 mainly because I didn't want to chase and loose brass.

From what I've read magazines for the new production Coonan will work in the older model. Considering how hard the originals are to find and expensive (anywhere from $125.00 to $200.00 each) new magazines are supposedly about $70.00 each.
