    Wal Mart Ammo ?

I've been doing my grocery shopping at 6 am at Wal Mart. They always seem to have some ammunition I want available and I like adding a 20 to 40 dollar ammo buy to the grocery bill each week....my wife minds that less then a 1k box showing up she has to lift into my man cave. Recently I got a new caliber for me, 45 auto. Wal Mart sells a 50 round Federal 230 gr fmj for 16.97 or about 18.50 after tax. At $370 per 1000 that is comparable to most of the online ammo dealers ... Especially if they charge shipping. Is wallies any worse then Cabellas or any others that sell Federal? I went thru 84 rounds of it with my new 1911 and had zero problems thank goodness. Gun seemed fairly clean after that batch too. Just wondering....it seems Wally ammo gets a bad rap around here.....is that justified?

What I read is that you can set up to reload .45ACP for less than 1K of WWB...

Not a big reloader.....I haven't gotten the components yet for 45. I haven't gotten the brass yet either and have never bought new brass. I always buy ammo that gives me brass I can reload. Some of my 357 brass have gone thru a few times but for the most part I consider anything I reloaded a long term hold for SHTF or really cheap practice rounds.....any bullets I buy are extreme low or hi end....hi is shelved for long term pray I don't need and low for practice.

Used brass is dirt cheap here till you can generate/scrounge enough for your stash. .45ACP brass isn't critical as far as strength goes. Very low pressure round. Check the straight shooters & deadbeats thread.

I use different bullets but generally come out about 1/2 the price of WWB ammo.

I have not had any problems with the Federal or winchester ammo from them in .45 i dont pay much attention to how dirty it is as i clean my gun anytime i use it. I normaly get the 100 pack of winchester as they are a little cheaper but come with out holders if you want to reload them, and they still use the large primer as with wally federal they use the small primer.

if you go to the same Wal Mart that I do...the lady who usually works the counter is very cool and they keep pretty well stocked..

I've been through lots of boxes of the WWB stuff and no problems at all... and @.28 a round (for .40) and .22 for 9mm thats about as cheap as it gets..(and no shipping etc...)

The problem was federal recalled a lot of that .45 stuff... But recently it's Been showing up more and more. It's the best price for
                45 if you dont reload

Never heard negative info on ww ammo. I keep factory ammo in stock, about 700 in .45, and another 500 (down from 1k) reloads i got for less. Ww ammo is g2g

Local walmarts in socal also carry Remminton UMC 250 packs which my springfield digests just fine, not sure if your does. You can also get Federal AE 250 packs from Palmetto armory for $89/$8 shipped

Are you better off than you were four years ago?

I never knew there was a problem with wm ammo. I assumed that Federal or winchester is the same no matter where you buy it. I buy all my ammo at wally world

I use this all the time for target shooting and for building up my brass supply. By it; shot it; collect the brass and have fun.
                        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I've never gave bad reputation to WalMart for their ammo sales. It's cheap (generally cheaper than any other brick and mortar in my area), assuming they have the caliber you need.

I do tend to buy most of my ammo online, but when ever I'm in the area of a WalMart, I'll stop in and see if I can pick up 4-6 boxes. The only "issue" like others have mentioned, was the recall on Federal .45, but that was Federal and not a WalMart specific thing.

Walmart ammo are fine for the range. I have shot a couple thousand rounds of the UMC 9mm for my CZ SP-01 and I never had a problem with them until yesterday when my CZ jammed but hard smack on the slide solved the problem. I picked up another box today.
