TLR-1s I have seen for around $100Brian Kelly
PM me for electrical work -
the TLR 1 is brighter than the TLR 3 but it uses two 123 batteries as opposed to one and it is a little more than 4oz. The TLR3 is ~2.5oz. I had a TLR3 on my G22 and it worked great, bright enough to kill a targets night vision and allow you to see everything indoors. During a black out I ran it in my room to finish doing my homework. Make sure to get lithium batteries for any weapon light you decide to buy.Comment

Got this one from amazon for $23 shipped for my Glock 17.
I am sure people will speak up now and say NcStar is garbage, but I was really impressed with the fit/brightness/quality for $23. Check out the reviews- 105 so far and averaging 4.5 out of 5 stars, so I know im not the only one....
I wasent interested in spending $150+ for a flashlight, and so far this one is a perfect fit and has been working flawlessley."The gene pool could use a little chlorine..."

Not sure I'd trust my life (or someone else's) to a $23 light that must absolutely function when you need it most... just sayin.
TLR-3 is a great size, but the battery (CR2) isn't as standard as the CR123. Both are cheap(ish) to buy in bulk at Battery Junction tho.
I run a TLR-1s each on my shot gun and AR carbine. TLR-3 is on my M&P9.SCC CCW *326 Days, $1051.29*

Was waitin for that
...if we were talking about a more complicated piece of equipment, I would absolutely agree with you. But a flashlight is a fairly simple piece of equipment, and if you simply check the battery/bulb periodically I don't think there would be any "unforseen failure" with a lightbulb. This thing does seem like it's good quality and well built, and the bottom line is whether it is a $10 or $400 Tac light, if the battery/bulb is dead it won't work. But that's just my opinion.
To the rest of you, thanks for helping the economy
Found a review of the light on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1rHk39oeDELast edited by Kanester; 04-26-2011, 9:10 PM."The gene pool could use a little chlorine..."

Well yes, and no... weapon lights require some more survivability due to the shock of the firearm discharge and general rough handling... most LED systems won't fail like a "bulb" would, but the battery connections and whatnot are prone to "momentary disconnection" under things like recoil. Caveat emptor. Was waitin for that ...if we were talking about a more complicated piece of equipment, I would absolutely agree with you. Just because people like pictures... here are the Streamlight offerings modeled on my M&P9:

I went with the TLR-3 on the pistol since it seems to fit better due to the more compact form-factor.SCC CCW *326 Days, $1051.29*

I had a Surefire X300. While I liked it a lot, I got rid of it and went with the TLR-1s lights for both my Glock and Kimber.
The X300 is bright, but too bright for indoor/HD use IMO. It really depends on how big your living area is, but for me it was too intense and the TLR-1 illuminated the areas better for me. I don't have a large backyard where I'll need a spotlight, so I don't need the X300. Also, I like and have gotten used to the controls on the TLR-1, and I especially like the way the momentary switch works on the Streamlight over the Surefire.
Again, that's for me as others may feel differently about the lights.
