Well I have 2 1911 both have idiot marks.
Free advise buy used 1911, because when you put a Idiot mark on a new 1911 it hurts. I did that on my SA SS loaded brand new, second cleaning after range trip. Wow that hurt.

It's a scratch Big effing deal! It doesn't affect the operation accuracy or anything else of importance on a handgun.
The only time I would care about it would be on a brand new gun in a store. Then its a bargaining point. On a used gun who cares?
Some people need to get a life if a scratch on a working gun is that important.

I agree..but I would not hesitiate to buy it as the owner probably doesn't know how to load it...so the internals would be brand new...

Normal wear and tear... It happens. Kinda like drag marks on revolver cylinders.

Or the scratch on the side of an AK from the safety lever.
