1911 "Idiot Marks."

Those marks are there to remind us , and it adds character to that masterpiece you have.

i don't know why you guys call it a idiot mark. I see it as sort of like the first shopping cart dent on a brand new car. once its done it just doesnt hurt so much.

It's called an idiot mark because it's not just normal wear and tear. Normal use wear on a 1911 is holster wear, wear on the slide stop and safety lever from your thumb, and wear from the slide moving on the rails. Idiot marks are from (dis) assembling the gun incorrectly.

It's the difference between a rock chip on your car's front bumper vs a dent caused by shutting the hood with a wrench hanging out of the engine compartment. One is caused by use and the other is caused by negligence/ignorance.

I have idiot marks on all 3 of my 1911's and i dont care, if it doesnt affect the operation.

I only have 1 1911, and it has an idiot mark. I didn't put it there, (honestly) as I bought it used, but it has other wear marks for that matter. Honestly though, I would've ended up putting on on there anyway! The guns still does what it does.

It's good honest wear and tear just like using a screwdriver to pry off the slidestop. Both are Inevitable unless your gun is a safe queen.
