Horrible glock 17 gen4 first impression

Hey guys.

New glock owner. Never wanted to touch one before but their beauty has really grown on me. I finally pulled the trigger, so to speak and picked one up. I'd been snapping in with it for a few days, and I have to say, NICE smooth trigger pull. I could just imagine the groups I could hit with it. Took it to the range today and put approx 110-120 rounds through it. Wow. What a **** show this glock is. First problem, the sights look right down the pipe, perfect. But I wasn't hitting ****. At 25ft I had to aim 12in to the right to even get rounds on the target. It got to the point that I stopped aiming and had to fire looking for the impact on the berm. 2nd is the extractor/spring. It would extract brass right into my face. Hitting my glasses at least 20x, forehead a few times, crook of the elbow, and one down the shirt. As it stands, I don't even want to sell this monstrosity because I don't want to give this pos to anyone else. What are my options? I'm hesitant to spend anymore money on this, but I've heard there are 3rd gen spring kits. Will that fix the brass in the face? And 2, is the terrible accuracy like a break-in thing? Should I contact glock?

I used a mix of federal and winchester ammo. And I was hitting great groups with my beretta 92a1 on double action and single action shots. So I figure it really shouldn't be that different hitting at least the target with a glock. Super disappointed guys.

The brass in the face happens sometimes, unfortunately thats one of the "bad points" of a Automatic. My friends old HK does it and many others have that possibility. In any case, if the sight are a bit off then thats probably what it is. I really doubt its that in accurate without showing obvious signs of the sights drifted already. Sounds like your just not used to shooting it and thats fine. I really doubt you got a "lemon". Just take it out and take your time and dont rush shooting it. Alot of people have to adjust between the different platforms.

I'm also a first time Glock owner as of 3 weeks ago. My first range trip was ackward. I felt it was shooting low 3" and left 3". I also didn't like the trigger pull on my first trip. 500 rounds latter and the trigger is much smoother and I got a hang of the Glock sight picture. Now I'm getting nice groups. I think the updated Gen 4 spring is stamped 04. If your spring has 03 on it glock will send the updated one free. That may fix your brass in the face problem. Your sights might be off also if your shooting that far off paper. Are you also shooting high or low? Or just right? Give it a chance. Like I said, I didn't know what to think after first range trip, but after some practice I'm really excited now about my first Glock.

Brass in the face shouldn't happen "sometimes" and it's not something that "just happens" with a semi-auto. Something's wrong.

You should have bought a....nevermind. I was talking with someone at the range and they said the 4th Gen still has to price it self. Hopefully it's nothing bad with your gun.

I never even new it happens.

I shot a glock 17 before and it never ejected brass in my face (no homo)

I would take it to a gunsmith and ask

I will buy it from you $300.00 after i am done fixing it i will sell it for $600.00, just joking.there is nothing wrong with your glock, glocks are perfect adjust your sights and squeeze the trigger dont pull the gun down,it is new pistol ejector spring needs a brake in time 200 more round will taker of it.

I noticed when my son shot my Gen4 G19 he would get brass in the face because he was limp wristing. Try a firm grip. I just sold it to fund another project, but I hope to get another. It was a great little gun and very accurate.

Yeah, I really want to like this gun. I just checked the spring, and the only numbers stamped on it is on the base of the spring. There's a 0,1, and 2 respectively on the left, bottom and right of the base. I'll call glock tomorrow and see if they'll send me a new spring. I'll also keep going to the range and see if the barrel straightens out. But, its extremely embarrassing when you're shooting those instant feedback targets and theres no feedback.

And just a note, I'm definitely not an awesome pistol shooter, but I did qual expert with the m9 and m16a2, so I am at least pretty familiar with how to shoot. Glock sights are a little different but the fundamentals remain the same. And like I said, I was lighting up the target with my 92a1 inbetween shooting the glock.

whenever i have a "problem" with a firearm i have a couple differant people try it. i watch what its doing in their hands. especially hand guns its not hard to miss. forget one thing and you miss.
i absolutely hate sigs and can not shoot them accuratly, even though everyone knows they are fine weapons.

Often time I see people holding the gun wayyyy to close and they get brass. For me I never had that problem.

Brass in the face from a GLOCK is fairly common from what I have heard and experienced so far. I am a fairly new GLOCK owner but a few of my buddies have the same problem. I actually got a case stuck in my glasses last week and it burned me pretty good. The gun shooting to the left is a minor issue. You can always upgrade to another sight which are adjustable so it will shoot exactly were you want it. You might even be able to drift the original sights but I am not sure. My rule of thumb is not to judge a gun until I have 1000 rounds through it.
