I just need the tube, I have buffer and buffer spring. Can I use a car spring and st-t2 buffer in the rra tube?

      Dangerously incorrect.

Rimfire is not exempt from California AW handgun laws.

OP, do not remove the BB from that gun unless or until California's AW ban is repealed.

I use the GSE (Gunsmoke Enterprise) buffer tube on mine. It's the shortest system available and it gets mixed reviews. Still haven't shot this one, so can't report on effectiveness of the system.

If you have carbine stocksvaround, save yourself the headache and get a pistol receiver extension (or at least wrap your extension in foam).
Did the stripped pistol lower set you back some change?

            Bingo.

Use an A1 tube and tack-weld a sling swivel to the threaded hole on the end and it can not accept a buttstock.

If the stripped lower was not PPT'd to you as a pistol, or if you are not roster exempt (LEO), then you can't simply build it into a pistol. Thats a huge no-no here in CA.

PPT'd? Sorry I'm not from cali, I just like the forum. There is no state laws against pistols or owning both here in NM. No registration or anything like that. You can buy from the sunday paper in a private sale. I am not worried about constructive intent, as I am building the lower first. I just need a tube.

Naw, Just $150, and $20 for grip, and $10 for the trigger guard.

Edit, and parts kit from palmetto minus fcg. It was like $36 shipped.

Ah, well that makes sense then. Here in CA there are very limited means to get a stripped pistol lower. Its not as simple as buying any stripped lower and building it into a pistol like it is in the free (sane) states.

That sucks. I bought everything through a private sale. I wasn't aware there were hoops to jump through in cali. We have gun shows about once a month and it's the fed laws we worry about. State laws are mostly ccw.

Thas true, on the federal form, the dealer can just check "other" for a stripped receiver... As its just a receiver, it's neither a long gun or hand gun.

                          Yup.
The new 4473 in 2008 was a mixed blessing/curse depending on how old you are and what you intended to do with the lower.

Prior to the new 4473, the options were the same as California... Handgun or Rifle. You could theoretically have any lower written up as a handgun, but it was easier if the lower was marked "pistol".
On the old form, if you were under 21, you could buy a stripped "rifle" lower.

With the new form, residents of free states can now decide whether to build a rifle or a pistol at any time prior to installing a 16"+upper and a buttstock. The bad? Lowers are now "other", and since "other" is not "rifle", you have to be 21 or older to buy one.
