      1. Did you clean & lube before firing? The oil that comes on new guns is a preservative, not a lubricant.

      2. I don't think you're getting the point of the ammo questions. What type of bullets? Round nose or hollow point or semi wadcutters? Lots of 1911 have a problem with bluntskull ammo, especially when brand new.

      3. 1911 can be picky about their magazines. 8 round mags can have problems exactly as you describe, especially on a brand new pistol or with HP or SWC ammo. Some 1911 show a definite liking for one brand or another. It's all in the lips, spring & follower.

      Go get that pistol oil slingin' wet, fire 500 rounds of factory 230gr FMJ out of a few different mags and call me in the morning.
