Mag springs can be had for $9, and a few cents less with Wolff replacements. Not sure where you are buying your $$$$ replacements.

Mags on the other hand, are fairly expensive for the USP .45 ($60), but the smaller calibers are less.

As far as reliability/durability, the Mark 23 (USP's big brother) passed US SCOOM testing exceeding a service life of 30,000 rounds of +P ammo, was tested in all conditions (temp, weather etc.) and exceeded the minimum mean rounds between stoppages required by the gov't.

My USP .45 has been reliable for the last 12 years with all types of ammo.

      <insert non-durable pistol here>. I'm just using the legend as a benchmark.

I've written up my ongoing adventures as I learn to hunt.

Yes, you CAN fit a case of shotgun shells into a .50cal ammo can.

I think i found an optimal solution for ammo can labeling.

I made this target for the NRA's Marksman pistol test. I think it's a lot better than the paper plate they suggest.

Durable: able to exist for a long time without significant deterioration. Lots of 1911's last hundreds of thousands of rounds. I don't really get it.

I don't think he does either....HK's are pretty tough though. I love my USP. It'll feed anything...even spent casings. You don't have to change any springs until something like 20,000 rounds. I don't know of any other gun with that claim. The only downfalls for me are the fact that I can't detail strip it as easily as a Glock or 1911, the ergo's aren't the best (though they work for me) and magazines cost an arm and a leg.

Wolff springs are the best btw. I replace nearly ALL springs in every gun with them.

By any springs I mean within the gun btw: mag springs have been changed every 5K in each mag. Never had a problem.

isnt the mean round count between stoppage something like 6000+rounds without cleaning the gun in harsh conditions (some guns going past 12k rounds without a cleaning and hiccup)? talk about kick ***!

Either way, my HK has never let me down, never had a stoppage, never did anything but hit what I point it at. I like it.

I've shot many thousand rounds through many guns. The HK USP has been the only flawless gun for me and everyone in my family. I replace springs/mags as preventive maintenance.

Moat people's complaints are about their price. It's a moot point if you've got the cash, really.

                    WTB used AK MFER.

Nowhere in norcal seems to have them
In stock. I want to check one out and see what the ergo's feel like in 9mm fullsize.

I busted my USP 45 out of the safe and have been shooting it a lot more. It's been promoted to be my bedside gun and I would have to agree with everyone here. It's unstoppable. I've shot through everything I've fed it without any issues. The gun is built like a tank. Finish on the slide is very durable. I have the Variant 3 model with the decocker/safety so compared to the Glock it's an extra piece that I could see potentially getting worn out. But I'm guessing it would last many years of service.

Target masters has a few, so does reed's. Norcal is a big area, where about are you looking?

I have a HK USP Compact in 9 mm. Very accurate and seems durable. Took it out on a hunt last year and got it a little wet and slightly muddy... cycled fine when I let off a few rounds for fun after the hunt.

However I definately prefer the trigger on my glocks better. For some reason It feels like some of the recoil vibartion travels down the trigger and bothers my trigger finger at the first joint.

When I was researching buy the HK I saw a video on youtube where a guy locked back the slide on a HK USP, stuck the gun upside down in a slightly frozen mud puddle in a field, slid the gun along the bottom of the puddle to get some mud and grime, pulled the gun out, blew out the breech with his breath, then loaded a mag and fired off a few rounds. The gun cycled fine.

I remember that vid I think. The one I saw was part of a montage and they were limp wresting GLOCKS to get them to fail.
