There was a guy on this forum that got arrested and convicted for carrying in a GFSZ even when he was on private property and he is currently in the appeal process. That is hopefully the extreme, but it is something that could happen. You best bet is to familiarize yourself with the laws, always do you home work, and make sure that you always have a digital recorder and/or video recorder on you while you're open carrying.
The case in bold cost $40K+, and he lost the case, gun rights in California, and this was a committed open carrier who really did know the laws well.
