You only have to be 21 to buy a handgun, 18 is fine for carrying it around. Drop by CaliforniaOpenCarry.org for more info on open carry. -
18!!! I open carried a few times
and one time a policeman asked me if I was even an adult
but I only had to show ID that I was 19!! So I can answer you for sure

You can have one transferred via IFT at 18 as well, not just inheritance.
Agreed. Hopefully that one lawsuit involving RKBA and 18 year-olds not being able to buy handguns will end that silliness.
He is new but most likely not a moron. Making disparaging remarks aimed at those attempting to seek beneficial information is not a really good policy. It might actually be wise to take a lesson from Bambi on this subject.Last edited by pullnshoot25; 03-21-2011, 8:56 PM.Comment

Please elaborate. I don't have 40k in the bank, but I don't let that dictate what activities I participate in. Are you suggesting that, in UOC a handgun, one might be forced to spend this kind of money proving their innocence? If he is doing nothing wrong, why should he have to spend that kind of money? I thought that was for people who are trying to fight the system and make a stand....

It's a crap shoot. Sometimes the cops pay you $35k when they admit that they were wrong and you were, in fact, innocent. Please elaborate. There is a chance you could be arrested, but the amount of money available for defense should be more like $5-$10 K. The problem is if you do get busted and are not represented by a lawyer that is familiar with gun laws they most likely try to convince you to plead it out, and you;ll loose you gun rights all together. There was a guy on this forum that got arrested and convicted for carrying in a GFSZ even when he was on private property and he is currently in the appeal process. That is hopefully the extreme, but it is something that could happen. You best bet is to familiarize yourself with the laws, always do you home work, and make sure that you always have a digital recorder and/or video recorder on you while you're open carrying. Please elaborate. That was one case in San Diego, but I have not heard of any others. But if I got put through a similar ordeal, I would be shopping lawyers until I found one to take up the case without a retainer.Last edited by RoundEye; 03-23-2011, 12:34 AM.Comment
