Thank you, I have no questions, been shooting 1911's for longer than I care to remember and all function superbly, without following Hilton's advise. Thanks for the tip.

Than why ask a question to clarify something you have no intention of following?

How would that be helpful to someone who wants some idea of how to properly maintain their 1911?

My opinion is take a look at the pics on their websites. I own Springfield, Wilson, S&W, Colt, and sold my Kimbers. It sounds like you are looking for asthetics and a pretty gun to take out every once in awhile. I personally like the Ed Browns for that. My Wilson is a tack driver, but I paid big $ for that. The Smith is a scandium model and is nice but not pretty. I wouldn't bother with buying the cheaper gun and sending to a smith is you want it more for looks. I like that if something goes wrong with my Wilson, I call them, they give me the UPS account info, and in about a week, my gun is back in my hands. I have to say their customer service is top notch. No emails back and forth, no endless phone calls (This happened only because of the engraving I wanted needed some help) Smith, although a good gun, not my favorite customer service. Springfield too. I have sent a gun to them a couple of times and though not bad customer service, not great either. I am currently looking at an Ed Brown and they are great to work with so far.

All are good gun, but I would be flat out lying if I said the craftsmanship between my Springfield and my Wilson were the same. They are both great guns though. If you are going to spend the money, pick out thee looks of the one you like best. Just stay away from the Kimbers! Their is a reason you spend more on a quality gun! Some of the older Colts are nice too. I don't own a new one though so I can't really comment on those. Unless you are LEO, I don't know how many have the stainless finish on the list. I prefer the look of stainless as well, more because it bothers me when the finish wears.

7anthony7- Well I can just get it single shot configured then just put in the original mag so it doesnt matter if its on the roster or not. So in your experience what is the best full size Wilson Combat for around $2500?

Just the straight CQB with a stainless upgrade and that will come in at $2675 new. You might be able to ind a used one online somewhere. Lifetime warranty, doesn't matter if you were the original owner and a tack driver.

Like I said though, they are all really nice guns when you get into that bracket. EEd Brown makes some that are California Approved and I believe in stainless so you don't have to go through the single shot third party mark up or FFL.

They are usually in stock and if not only 90 day wait. Same warranty.

I love my Wilson CQB. I would buy another in a heartbeat. They are GTG and the customer service is excelent.

I want the American too! How did you get it into California? Single shot?
