    Best 1911 for under $2,500

I'm looking at high end 1911's. Ive looked at Wilsons, Nighthawks, Ed Browns and can't decide on what I want. I want some opinions on guys who own these or have shot them. And post pictures up if you have them. Thanks.

I'd prefer a chrome, nickel, or stainless steel model too.

I'd go Nighthawk Tallon or GRP. Stainless? Is it going to be a BBQ gun, or a shooter?

Personally I'd spend the money on a good low end like a SA loaded or SW1911 and then put the rest of the cash through a very good smith to have your gun made the way you want. Well at least that's what I did.

I have a Les Baer premier II and concept VII... I like them and think they are great shooters. I've heard ed brown's have a nice finish, but I like the baer with their tight fit. They are great shooters too...

I purchased a NHC GRP a year ago, since then there's been a price increase. Best for under 2,500 would be a Brown Special Forces or a Les Baer TRS.

While I really think the Baer 5" guns are a great buy and the Concept 5 is indeed available in stainless, I think you would be better served with a Dan Wesson CBOB and just changing out the slide stop, for a tool steel one, when you have the trigger tuned...if you want a checkered MSH this would be a good time to add that too...plus I like the cleaner slide (without the front serrations)

For a pretty nice savings, you'd have a nicer Commander length 1911 (IMO) than the Ed Brown Kobra

As it sits right now, my two high end 1911's are a Les Baer TRS and a Wilson CQB. I have absolutely no qualms with recommending either. They're both excellent guns and performance wise: are BORING. They'll both shoot ragged holes if I can.....they'll both run anything I put in them and are both supremely reliable. In this case, boring is a GREAT thing I don't want any excitement in regards to wondering where I'm going to score a hit or when my gun is going to malfunction. You pay a premium on the Wilson but it's still worth it IMO......The Baer represents a better value however. You have a LOT of options at that price point. Ed Brown's are sweet too. I've got one on order that should be coming in this time next month. Can't wait!

                          Another vote for the Pro.

I dont know why, but the Pro is downright sexy in my book.

Here is a Pro for sale in the classified section:

Owned them all and choose the Wilson cqb, Ed brown, les Baer and the Springfield pro. To each their own.
