Does this barrel wear look normal?

This is a Sig SP2022 with about 800 rounds of use.

The hood was blued when I bought it and now it's completely gone.

You think I should just polish the whole barrel so it doesn't look so worn out?

Well, It looks very good to me.
I would say it is petty Normal for a Sigs.
SP2022 is good one, So enjoy shooting.

Absolutely normal.

If it makes you feel better you can strip the oil off and try one of those touch-up blueing pens.

If that sticks, it'll last another few hundred rounds.

I don't really see any point in doing anything to "enhance" it cosmetically. It doesn't really affect function, not to mention it has some character of use. I think that's a beauty in of itself.

But this is a Free Country, so do as you wish.

Looks pretty normal. I also have a Sp2022 and the blueing just comes off pretty easily. I have tried wax, grease and oil to try to prevent or slow down the process with same outcome, didn't work.

I also own a P226 that came from factory with the top of the barrel hood already polished but the blueing on the sides still came off. Some people say that it adds character to the pistol.

However, I ran across a video on utube on The Armory Channel where Pete polished all the blueing off his barrel on his 226. Must say that it looks pretty sharp..

Pay more attention to the smilies on the barrel. It's similar to tree rings to show how much use the gun has actually seen. By the looks of your barrel it hasn't seen much yet. The wear on the barrel hood is normal, and will usually be the first to wear on SIGs.

All that says to me is that you actually shoot your gun instead of letting it sit in the safe, drenched in oil. haha.

I don't know what these guys are talking about. That is abnormal wear. I don't have any of that type of wear on my guns which remain in the safe all the time. You need to buy another gun to put in the safe so you don't give it any abnormal wear. Let me know if you want me to tell you where to forward that freakishly deformed gun.

This would be a good excuse to polish that surface and make it nice and shiny. I love the look on my Sigs and it just takes some practice and elbow grease.

Man, that barrel is'nt even broke in yet. Shoot the crap out of it and dont worry what it looks like.

use the milcom grease like sig tells you to. expensive stuff but awesome
