HK USP Clarification question

One benefit of the HK USP is that you can buy it once, and convert it between SA/DA, DAO, safety, non-safety, left handed, right handed, etc...

One thing that's not mentioned anywhere I can find, can you do all this out of the box, or do you need to buy extra parts?

In California, Variant 1 is the only one on the Roster. Used is another story of course. So if you buy new, and want something besides V1, eg., a LEM trigger for example, you'll have to buy the parts separately.

I'm thinking my trigger-tastes may change as I improve as a shooter. One day I may permanently shake this flinch I seem to have that makes me shoot better with double-action/glock style pistols, and may begin to love single-action shooting...

The HK USPc LEM is on the list, if you're okay with compact.

If you have a DA/SA does the kit come with a plug to take the place of the safety/decocker?

The link ChristTKHarris posted has an interesting note: the LEM trigger can't be installed if the gun has a "one piece catch".

Is this something you need to be careful of when buying a USP, or is the one piece catch such an old design that it's no longer seen in stores?

ETA: found my own answer: "please note that any pre-1995 production USP Variants will also need part number 219442."
