I've never placed much stock in safety levers. My faves are Sig Sauers followed by my CZs and Glocks.

Sigs are nice. I want to get one in 9mm funds permitting.

From the Glock web site, G17 standard model: 5.5 pounds.
        trigger pull length .5"

Of course, no Glock owner ever slicks up the triggers, replaces springs or installs the 3.5 pound connector...or even a whole new trigger with even less travel and pressure required.

        No Glocks here to measure.

If I was going to keep a Glock in condition 3, I'd rather get a different gun. I'd rather get a gun that I can keep condition 1 or 2, locked and cocked or chambered with hammer down. With practice, switching off a thumb safety becomes muscle memory. And condition 2 capable guns such as a Beretta, SIG, and HK, hammer down and safety off, is probably the next best thing to a true DAO. BTW, SR9c is a great alternative to a Glock. It has a great trigger and a thumb safety that you can opt to use if you feel the need. Otherwise, you can keep it just like a Glock. Just practice practice practice.

I used to have this same fear back in the day so ran a bit of a test to alleviate my concern.

I ran the slide to put the Glock into battery (so trigger could be pulled) and carried and holstered it around for quite some time to see if I ever had any issues with trigger snap potentially causing a ND. After a few months with not a nary of issue or concern, I then racked it again and settled down.

Give it a try to see how you do with it in battery but without a round chambered. That will give you a good assessment of your lifestyle and risk.

+1. You are NOT confident with your background, equipment and training. Get some education as in REAL training and some practice.

The Glock will do you well. Know your craft and know your equipment.

Yes, and ignore all the "be a man" ridiculous comments, but not any of the comments reinforcing the four basic safety rules. Feel the same way as you, sold the one I had for that reason and only have handguns with external safeties (HK, Kimber) - much more comfortable for me, and that counts for a lot vs owning a system you aren't entirely comfortable with. No need to force it in order to join the Glock legion.

External safety will get you killed if you dont train with it. I have seen a lot of people forget to flip off that safety during high stress training.

Most of the people here are "range commandos" and would never think of taking any force on force training to see what they are really made of. I agree with you...that external safety will/most likely be forgotten during high stress.
