where to get a new slide

I sent out my slide, barrel, and a few other parts to get duracoared. It has been almost 2 months and it looks like it got lost in shipping? I don't think im getting it back. I tried to contact the person who sent it and I haven't heard from him in almost a month. I am in complete limbo. So my question is, where can I find a slide for a Sig P228? I found all the other parts I need on topgunsupply.com, but the slide seems to elude me. The thing that sucks the most is im going to end up paying more for the replacement parts than I did for the complete pistol.

There was one for sale in the classifieds here as well. Don't know if it's still there though.

No, I dont think so. The person sent the package with an original USPS tracking # and I didnt receive the package. I was then told that it was "lost" and that he would be sending it again. That was almost a month ago. I havent heard a peep since. So I wouldnt even know where to start to even get the insurance on it. Yeah, Im pretty POed.

                Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Youre telling me. Im so bumed. I tried to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, but Im getting over that. alls I know is that im probably going to have to end up paying around 600 to fix a pistol I payed 480 for. And what sucks is the guy doesnt check his messages nor does he make an effort to contact me. I thought he was legit.

How about just buy another P228? You will have this frame for spare parts. And if you really want to, buy a 22LR kit for P229 and convert this one into a 22LR plinker.

And of course if you buy another P228, the slide from that gun will fit this one as well.

Or even better, buy a P228R, which is a P228 slide fitted onto a P229R frame. Then you can have one of each, depending on your mood.

this is all kind of weird.. someone lost your gun in transit and yet you're still going to pay for
                            1) the duracoat job
                            2) replacing the slide

all of this, out of your own pocket?

Someone is responsible for this, and it's definitely not you. I'd be after them like crazy. If USPS lost it, then its quite reasonable to expect them to reimburse you if it were properly insured..

Not to sound incredulous, but it's very suspect that you're not up in arms about this whole matter and that you're simply paying for things you shouldn't be.

I have been trying to contact him. Ive sent him PM after PM and nothing. I sent a Money Order with the parts so I paid in full first. I know it sucks having to pay out of pocket, but If I cant get a response, then Im pretty much arsed out. From what the guy told me around 3 weeks ago was that it was lost in transit, but it was recovered. It was first going back to him then he was going to ship it out again. I was like OK. Im sure there was an insurance placed on it, but I have no way of finding that information out. So I cant really make a USPS claim if I dont have a claim number. Dont get me wrong, Im pissed, but its one of those things where I have very little recourse.
