The Midway bag holds a lot of stuff, but once you start to throw boxes of ammo into the main compartment, the bag is very heavy to carry. The shoulder strap disperses the weight pretty well, but it's still damn heavy to lift onto your shoulder and walk with it while the bag is bumping into your side or leg.

IMO, range bag on the shoulder holds all of your supplies & guns. Range bag carried in your hand should only carry ammo.

Yeah thats what I am presently doing, but the bags getting a bit crowded, so time to scale up or sell off.

The 5.11 is the same as the Midway? They really should do better pictures of the insides of all these things.

To get a good feel exactly how big these bags are, look for the Midway Range bag on Youtube and you see some decent reviews. When the person is standing next to the bag or holding it, you can see just how large it is.

Nthing the Midway comp range bag.
As to weight, nothing says you have to load ammo into that bag, and any bag that you put ammo in is going to be heavy.

Just got my Midway Range bag last week. For $40 it's perfect. Seems to be made well and If I don't need the bulk of the main bag I can just use the smaller one.

Bought my son the Midway compact bag last year. Nice size for a couple pistols, ammo & range gear. Maybe he'll decide he needs the full size bag and he'll give the compact back to me.

thats a pretty good comparison of the bag options.

some of the youtube video quality makes me laugh, others are pretty bloody good...

Midway bag FTW. Bought one for my son, probably going to get one for myself.
