    need help choosing a ccw!

hey guys....i just setup an appt for my ccw permit in september...(yes thats the nearest appt avail! )....

im in the market for a good ccw and wondering what you guys would recommend...im currently looking at the kahr p9, glock 26, and possibly a kimber super carry...i currently have a full size m&p .40, but it seems too big for me to carry as a ccw. im a smaller guy...only 5'5 and 147..lol...

    thanks for your help calguns!

being of the stature that you are, i'd say a g26 or 27 would work. i tried them but theyre just too small in my hands. im 6' and 240. i opted for the g23, which i pick up in 9 days. good luck with whatever you choose.

I'm 5'6", 160 - I roughly know where you are coming from in terms of ability to conceal.
You're probably right on on your M&P - the grip length on that gun will make concealment difficult.
P9 and G26 are good guns - my first choice out of the two is the G26, here is why:
The G26 has a lighter trigger, which allows for more accurate shot placement. It also holds 10+1 vs. 7+1 on the P9. Mags for the Glock are cheaper and your selection of holsters is significantly better - plus, you can add larger models if need be and they all share basically the same magazine type, with the smaller versions being able to use the mags of the larger ones.

OTOH the P9 is excellent for deep concealment - it will disappear where you run the risk of printing with the G26... however: Kahrs can be hit or miss in terms of quality. I have a PM40 - bought it used and it worked flawlessly from day one. The P40 that I bought new needed a trip back to the factory before it was reliable enough for me to carry it.

To throw two more wrenches into your gears: you may want to look at the G19 - it's marginally larger than the G26 but offers a much better grip. The extra barrel length increases the accuracy of the weapon.
Glocks also offer one other option well worthwhile considering: they can be equipped with a red dot sight like this one:

It's pricey but you gain speed and accuracy since the smaller dot does not obscure the target at longer distances.
I'd go Glock for sure, either the G19 or the G26 if you are really comfortable with the standard grip on that one.

G26. I carry one all day in a Comptac Minotaur holster and barely know its there.

Ruger SR9C! If I get my ccw I'm probably going to get one.

I have a keltec p11 now but EVERYONE hates the trigger pull on it. I actually kind of like it.... lol

S&W M&P 40 compact since you already have the full size. This way you can carry the M&P with the compact mag and then carry an extra full-size mag in your pocket or on your belt. I do this with my Glock G19 and carry an extra G17 mag on my belt.

Tomorrow I'm going to see how a p239 feels in my hand and possibly be my choice of CC

I've tried the P239. It's big for a single stack gun. A little bigger in fact than my Glock G19.

Why would you want to carry what is recommended as the absolute minimum in firepower when so many great compact autos are on the market with double the capacity and far superior sights and accuracy.
